I havent played Basketball for months and...

Yesterday, we had a training on Basketball so I told everybody that I'll be back on playing again and then after some 30 mins, my LCL hurts... I am worried as it could get torn. I don't wanna be like Derrick Rose who got his ACL torn, well ACL and LCL are pretty much the same as they are located in the knee.

Is it because I drink coffee 3x everyday or is it because I didn't played Basketball and didn't had training for several months but I do lift too.

Could be a number of things. Overdoing squats and lunges could be a factor if you do that. I suggest going to a doctor to have a look at your knee. A brace might be required depending on the severity. Drink more milk and work on your legs and thighs for knee support. Don't over work yourself either in the gym, you might snap some shit up.

It's probably because you're not used to do sports since you quitted it?
That's completly normal if you didn't train for ages.

Bglave covered most of it so I'll go on a tangent. Why are you drinking so much caffeine in 3 cups of coffee a day? That's not exactly what I would call healthy.

Also, Bglave - with him drinking 3 cups of coffee, unless he has it black, he would be drinking a lot of milk each day.

I also have a a pretty similar injury myself.

Shit is going to hurt, don't kid yourself. How long has it been since the injury occurred? My abdominal was sliced open twice in the last year, I've been good to do anything for 3 months now but I still can only do 3 crunches before it hurts pretty good.

Where you tore it is always going to be sore until you rebuild that muscle. Until you rebuild it back up it's going to be painful no matter what muscle it is. Straight from my surgeons mouth.

u might as well go see some sort of either doctor or someone who knows about this shit and could examine your knee if you think it's even the smallest degree of serious and u wanna play ball

trust me, i played wit niggas upon niggas who tore they acl's playing football and they weren't even able to run for months afterwards, and one dude wasn't even to play till senior year after tearing his acl in freshmen year.... shits serious and hurts like the heavens

plus all of 'em had to get surgery, and yall know that ish aint cheap... luckily they were covered by healthcare.... for my americano friends u might want to consider that

Damn, what you just said is so freaking true. I do lots of squats and lunges to make my leg muscle big.

Coffee would have nothing to do with it. It would definitely be due to the fact you haven't played in awhile, probably didn't stretch before practice, and you're muscles aren't used to a normal routine.

I'd suggest taking it easy and practicing and gaining back your strength and skill in basketball without going too hard on yourself. If it hurts really bad, then I'd consult your Doctor and get it looked at like Bglave suggested. Basically, a doctor can tell you whether you will likely tear it if you continue or not. It may just be that you haven't warmed up/practiced in a while. Let us know how it goes! :)
