US has highest rate of prisoners in the world -- higher than China

Chine has lower rate of prisoners because the death penalty is very brutal. For example when football match is being, through the break they shot prisoners into the head. In front of the sights of thousands people. In general the crime in Chine is very low.

At least the death penalty isn't given for every reason here, but in countries like China and the former USSR, death penalties are administered much much more

If your sentence was more than 25 years in the USSR, then you got the death penalty or got sent to a gulag, no questions asked

If you ask me, the US may have many more prisoners than any other country, but thats because Americans value human life a little more.

I believe we have such a high crime rate, because our country is very tolerant. Instead of ALL the states having "hang um high" laws as Texas does, most states haven't administered the death penalty on a citizen for over 10 years! If we want to realistically lower our rate, we need to administer it more. However, I do not believe in this as a way to lower crime. Therefore, I say...Keep it high.

 

Its because our jails are being filled with people who have done nothing wrong... Smoking weed is not bad and many of the governments reports have been fake, set up, and pushed to the limits... They say it killed monkeys.. Yes it did because you fuckers drownded them in smoke for months...

 

that is so true the land of the freee turns into the land of the locked up i know you must pay for what u have done but maybe there is a lil to many stict rules when it comes to the law suchas goin to jail for smokeing weed

 

i just read taht post that is also true the china death penalty is alot more strict and they wouldnt put up with half the prisoners in the usa jaill

This is probably due to the harsh law conditions in the US.

You can get put away for just about anything drug related now, marijuana specifically.

 

I have to agree with Triggerfinger. More Death Penalties is crucial. There are just too many offenders in the U.S. who keeps on breaking the law again and again and again and again... and again.

 

The death penalty is not a deterrent from future crimes.

I completely disagree, if that was the case, why was one of my best friends thrown in prison for 2 years for criminal mischief? a misdemeanor, why was I thrown in prison at the age of 16 for 3rd degree assault? a misdemeanor. I'm actually on my way back for the second time, I will be sentenced in about 3 months, and am looking at a maximum of 10 to 20 years, for assault on a police officer, when the officer struck me atleast 9 times before I swung once. The United States judicial system is fucked, I have many friends in the prison system for bullshit misdemeanors that would normally result in the outcome of probation. Granted it depends on the judge, but their all so power hungry they are sending everyone they can.

I do not understand this, if the person is dead, how are they going to commit future crimes?

It may not deter people from committing crimes, but if convicted and face the death penalty, it would stop them from making any future crimes of course.

On the topic, I think one of the biggest problems is how strict they are with drugs, at least with marijuana. Some drugs I can understand like Meth because the way Meth is made is very dangerous to anyone around.

Another reason jails are crowded is people with unpaid child support and other similar crimes. It is a bit rediculus how many people are in jail for things like this.

Also, another reason I believe is jail and prison are just too easy here. Cable TV, daily meals, don't have to work (some do by choice). Also, apparently the rehabilitation approach to American Jails does not work for crap as the percentage of people who come back to jail is huge.

Lastly, I don't know the statistics, but a possible reason could be that the US has more capable law enforcement with less getting away with crimes committed.

All of these things coupled together make it have a very high prison population.

I'm not sure, but the poverty in ghettos and the crime/gangster bullshi*t propaganda through the media certainly doesn't help.

 

Your friend probably went back to jail for violating his probation. (Sounds like you have the wrong friends if they're all in jail) You are like 2/3 of the idiots in America crying wolf. You're all innocent right? Sure, our justice system needs some work, but not in the area's you are describing. And I'm sure you were resisting arrest, forcing the police officer to use acts of force. It's never your fault? Correct? It's about time you and your friends take responsibility for yourselves being bums.

As for China's crime rate... I wouldn't trust ANYTHING put out by their government on crime or politics. In China, they still charge you for the bullet they shoot you with! And NO, the executions in China are NOT displayed publicly (when was the last time you heard about an execution in China?). Public executions on the large scale that they are administered in China would severely hurt them in terms of International Relations.

China is the police state. Nothing gets out of China unless the Chinese Gov't want it out.

As for our crime rates... I blame the economy, and the glorification of crime in America. Too many young punks watching too many Scarface movies! >.< hahahaha (Though, it is a great movie). :nuts:
