Oh, THAT'S Why Ranked is Unbearable

ELO Hell does exist; it's where almost everybody flames everyone else like hell. Even if you are making good plays, they will find a reason to BM everybody else and bitch and moan.

I just blocked 6 of the 9 people in the game. I'm not really planning to promote, so I was playing ranked just to say fuck it and get a ranked game in before season 3.

Bottom lane fed (without their jungler ganking) before I was able to even finish red. Guess whose fault it was? Mine. If the jungler doesn't finish his red in about 3 seconds and immediately go defend out of place morons, it's his fault. From there, it was just downhill; everyone jumped on the "blame the jungler" bandwagon. Our mid AP Sona went 39 CS by 20 minutes, and of course every 150 CS that was missed was my fault.


My response to each flame? Mute. Warning messages from Riot taught me to behave better. I was hardly attracting the flame; I was just playing the game. I "stole" mid's CS because otherwise the tower would have done so after each of her 6 deaths. (And let's face it, when Annie is level 12 when your mid is level 8, ganking won't help either...)


Anyway, Treeline has a much better community. I suggest you all play some TT games instead.

 

You're doing it wrong, you ignore everyone at the start of each game.

 

TT is garbage lol. Trust me, wait for season 4, start afresh and you'll climb up and begin to enjoy playing SR.

 

I think I'll do that, to be honest.

TT isn't garbage. 20% of my games have a "good champion" (I avoid "God"-tier through B-tier champions OR I play something fun like AD Tibbers), but about 75% are wins. When I play for real I basically get hella fed, solo vilemaw at 12 minutes, and snowball even faster from there. It seems people think the map that they aren't as good at is garbage.

No, the concept of TT is garbage. I'm not saying the players are.

Even the pro LCS/C9/SKT/OMG etc teams have said TT holds no competitive aspect of game play, and is more so for fun/shits and giggles. They've said that the idea behind is is less skill based and more for quick fun games, however still involving required picks and bans (unlike aram).

Most TT ranked teams that get Diamond+ merely do it to sell slots, not for the sense of self achievement, since it's so easy to reach Diamond in TT.

 

Just try not to let it get to you, just remember those type of games happen to all of us, just use it as a learning experience for yourself and see how you handle yourself and eventually your attitude will be enough to win you games as you get higher up.

 

There wasn't much I could do. I mean, okay: here's the list of "things to improve on" to avoid this advice in the future:

- 3:10, 5:35, 7:40, 16:21: I missed a couple of Q's while ganking (some of them I DIDN'T want to even hit Q because a gank would mean certain death to our sona who was already 20% HP but still wanting me to jump in...)
- 8:22 I accidentally Q'ed to their Amumu without realizing that Thersh was in the bush. I got away, but it cost me a flash.
- 10:11 I used my ult on Amumu to kick him away without realizing his ult was on cooldown.
- 6:33 I backed with about 12 less gold than I should have. It cost me maybe 6 seconds, which matters tbh. (I got to my read by the time it spawned 7:15 though.)
- Several times: I spent too much time at mid, so bottom was constantly geting ganked.
- 5:12 It took me about 30 seconds too long to ignore Sona, and I had to read about 3 more comments than necessary.
- Several times: Sometimes in my combo, I accidentally pressed W before the second hit. I'm trying to get used to the ping difference and time the spells just right, but the ping jumps between 80 and 150 pretty regularly.
- In retrospect: the only real way to combat the snowball Annie was to snowball myself. I'll have to look back and see how well I could have become fed off of Top, which was the only lane holding its own. It's worth considering, but really an Annie and Vayne getting kills every 3 minutes is pretty difficult to match.

I realize some games are just hard to carry because a snowball starting at 2:05 is pretty hard to stop. I don't need "criticize yourself" advice because my point is ranked 5v5 is full of retards, not retards who can't be carried. I'm hella self-critical without being encouraged to be even more so.

On a related note, how large is the ignore list? I've added about 10 more people so far.

 

If you want elo hell try playing in plat I/ diamond V MMR. You will not find a single more toxic place on the game.

Yeah I'm learning all over again playing Rift means "ELO League of Legends hell," unless you are in a randomly high division like Plat IV, Diamond III, etc. In those divisions, you avoid playing with people desperate at the I tier or desperately shitty, stuck at the V tier with +2 LP per win.

Superman's advice is probably the best advice for climbing brackets.

Plat 1 is elo hell. A lot of smurfers, (myself included) agree that it's hard to win since almost all Plat 1/ Diamond 5 thinks that they are so good and doesn't care what other people say. Diamond 4,3 and low 2 is a lot easier then plat 1. I never agree that ELO hell exists until I started helping friends get Diamond and plat 1 is where it's at. Best advice is to turn off all chat and play your best.

 

Honestly, I think Gold I is the worst place in this game to play. I consistently find it harder to win the promotion to Plat than it is to win the promotion to Diamond..

Eh, I don't know about that. Most of my games have been somewhere between diamond 5 and recently diamond 1 and I can confirm everywhere is just as toxic. It's really just a mindset you need to have when you enter the game.

If anything, play solo q until you get the rewards then GTFO and play some team ranked or normal queue with 5 friends. You'll get better a lot better there (constructive criticism, it's taken seriously by everyone - including enemy 5 queues, and potential to watch replays) and it's hell of a lot more fun in my opinion.

 

Even if you block them you can still get in queue with them ._. doesn't do anything for me, I often get stuck with similar people and all that happens is that they are instant muted the next game you play with them

 

I understand what OP is saying, as I was stuck in Bronze 1 for ages... I got boosted out to Silver and I found the games in Silver extremely easy to win.

 

I got my Elise skin by playing 3v3 ranked with friends. We had 1 loss in the 10 games it took to qualify. But yeah, I pretty much have decided ranked isn't really worth it aside from getting rewards that I want. A diamond banner would have been nice, but we didn't have the time to play a lot of ranked 3's.

 

If you got to gold going 9-1 i'm not completely sure you'd of been able to hit diamond even given 100+ games.

Another thing to note:

Most of the high diamond/challenger 3's players I know are able to go 200-0 fairly easily in low diamond. Its pretty ridiculous -_-

 

3V3 rewards should be completely different IMO, as they are so easily attainable and the concept of 3v3 holds no merit to 5v5 SR.

It's good at queue borders show only in said queue acquired.
