Upgrades with Credit Card

The bottom post is the one I'm looking for. I was wondering why it's against the rules. I was planning on doing this often soon. I see why it's against the rules, but isn't there a simple way to solve the solution? Why can't we just send a picture with the credit card, sythe name, and a picture of ID to a mod/admin to be able to use it as a payment method? It's just like what player auctions requests, so I was wondering if we could do this as well? I don't see a reason as to not be able to. Credit card payments are more than likely the number one method big sellers use to sell upgrades. I personally would be doing it as well.

To shorten things up. What I'm requesting is that we allow members to be able to sell upgrades with credit card payments as long as they can show proof of ownership. If somebody can enlighten me as to why this shouldn't be allowed, then that'd greatly be appreciated.

I believe it had to do with the fact that in order to even be on the account, you would have to give all information. Once that credit card, debit card, or whatever you decide to use is in full activation, it's on an automatic recurring subscription every single month. If it's on recurring subscription, you would need to log back into the account and and personally cancel the recurring subscription. This is where the trouble comes in. If the account has not been canceled of the subscription, the issue comes in where the card is on lock to keep paying monthly. If not dealt with accordingly, such as calling your local provider, you could be stuck with paying for this service that you have no control over. The whole ordeal is extremely long and can cause any individual to suffer major trauma with the realization of paying for something that you necessarily didn't request intentionally.

I believe that's why they are banned from ever having access. Not the exact answer, but definitely a good assumption.

And as for proof of the credit card, you have to look at it from Jagex's standpoint. If someone uses a fraud credit card that wasn't the holder's intention of spending on the game, then it becomes a situation where legal issues will be in order and causes a huge ordeal. Jagex knows where you are and what IP you will use if you decide to be on a credit card subscription. Legal issues can come into place where the individual would have to face local authorities for an attempt against stealing the identity of another individual. There's much more that's behind the scenes.

 

Can cancel it with the card itself. That's not the problem of why the rules was set either.

 

The person selling it the upgrade can cancel the reoccurring membership right after he buys the first month. There's no need to "come back" later and cancel it. The main reason the rule was instigated was because of people getting negative days on their accounts, AND because they didn't want people to try and recover the accounts with that information, since the real owner obviously wouldn't have it (at least usually).

 

Don't understand the reason behind not being able to use credit card then. Obviously your taking your own risk if you ask somebody to apply the membership. I don't get the rule of not being able to use a credit card for membership. If you cancel the monthly thing, it's not going to put you in negative. You can cancel all of them at once without even logging on the account as well. All you need is the card.

 

It's easy to recover a account with a CC since the account is bound to it after paying to the CC.

 

I don't think this is the case of why the membership with credit cards is against the rules. The reason is stolen credit cards. If your scared of being recovered, then simply do not trade with this person. Your at your own risk of trading with somebody in the first place..

What's the precaution if somebody shows their id though? It's not a stolen credit card. ;/

Not being able to sell membership with a credit card, because it's unsafe is like saying you can't trade at all, because there is a risk. It's completely illogical. It's just about making the right decisions when trading..

 

If some one shows his ID support but again you are a exeption most of the other members will try to take there advantage out of it. These rule does make sence for the extent audience of sythe.

 

Can you even alone recover an account with just a credit card? I see that as false.. There's no way JaGeX would allow that to happen. You could easily just get a hacked an account for like 20 minutes, put membership on it with a credit card, then later recover it with that credit card. I don't see how that system would work. I'd think JaGeX would be smarter than that...

 

You could call your bank and say it wasn't you, they would chargeback, ie negative days.

 

That's like out lawing any kind of credit card payment at all. Meaning like PayPal, etc. Should have to state what kind of card it'll be, and if your not comfortable with it, then don't trade. There is no legitimate reason this shouldn't be established, if certain guidelines were set..

Many others, just can't think right now, however stolen cards is the biggest reason. It isn't hard to fake your identity over the internet either, so it'd be hard to prove who someone is, or if they're even using the credit card they prove ownership of.

 

Another reason is that Jagex recently made it so that you can only have five memberships per card per month.

Proved reasons to differ that already. Picture with ID, and trading smartly. Can chargeback payments with gift by calling your credit card company, but we don't outlaw that.

Yeah, I agree. If the limit is 5 a day, there is no reason to even use a CC imo.
