    Updating Drivers (Help)

Hello, Ive got a pretty old Gateway pc and was wondering how I can go about updating the systems so it will run even just a little better. From what it says on the casing its a Gateway 504GR, Intel Pentium 4 processor, and windows XP home edition pack 5 I think. It barely supports any games made after 2005... Anyway if there is a way I could upgrade it without spending any money Id be eternally grateful.

    XP Service Pack 3*

And there's not much you could do with an old system like that, aside from get a new gaming computer. You could look for drivers and run a defrag and stuff. You should also uninstall programs / delete stuff you don't use.

In the long run you're gonna need a new gaming computer if you want to be able to run modern games decently.

Its a common myth that pc gaming is super expensive, you can build a pretty powerful gaming rig for like $400.

Alienware computers are overpriced dell's crammed into a light up case.

If you decide that you want to build a computer eventually let me know and I'd be happy to point you to some resources where you could start doing some research.

Newegg's 3 Part Computer Build Guide (probably the first place to start, I'd recommend watching through at least the first 2 videos before you order anything)

Carey Holzman's Computer Building Guide (Carey is a little bit long winded of a speaker, but he takes everything nice and slow so its a good video to watch eventually)

Tom's Hardware PC Build Guide (don't personally prefer this guide because it makes it look complicated, but it isn't)

Logical Increments (a buying guide giving you a general idea of how much you should be spending on each part at each price range)

Newegg Power Supply Calculator (will help you calculate the size of power supply you need)

Pcpartpicker (handy little tool to help you put together a build)

I'm sure you'll probably find things that are EVEN MORE helpful, but that should get you started out and thinking about things. As questions come up just google them and browse forums like tomshardware/ask around and you'll find answers!
