Uneditable Post

Hey guys,


One thing i've noticed about scams on Sythe is how unprovable they are. I see countless posts of people claiming someone's "scammed" them, without any solid proof.

The fix?

A magic button which you can click whenever you make a new post (right next to Attach Signature) that says "Make this post uneditable."

What's it do?

It makes the post uneditable (exception: mods) and also turns the post background to a different colour (to tell if a post is uneditable.)

But why?

Quite simple really. When you are talking to the person on msn, you can get them to post an uneditable post saying they are training your account. Thus, if your account gets stolen, there is some solid evidence.

The thought didn't really occur to me, however there is definitely a problem with that:

The latest version of vBulletin keeps a changelog of updates in a post. Meaning, in if you add something to your post, remove something from it, or whatever, it'll show up in an edit log.

I think that would be an easier method to go about doing something like this.

 

I did not know that - Yes that would remove the need for it I suppose.

Pen banned someone for trying to show off like that. I would suggest not doing it....

Doing this wouldn't prevent any scams actually. It wouldnt be very difficult to get around it, and people could trick others into making this "uneditable" post.

 

I believe that this is a good idea, but it should only come in effect on threads that have a scammer/leecher has posted on.

 

I don't think it would help on scamming... , they could just say it got hacked while I was training or something.. :/
