End of the World?

So after Megaupload shutdown, other services have restricted access also such as Filesonic, Fileserve etc. You can no longer download any file except than your own. Many are deleting these files by 30th January.

What do you think will come up as alternative to these File-sharing sites? Torrents may become more popular for one...

I don't really think it's "The end of the world." Like you said, we still have torrents, so even if all of these upload sites were to be shutdown, then torrents would be used more frequently. The governments of this world need to accept the fact they won't be able to stop file sharing.

 

Pretty astonishing what the take down of one website can influence over the rest in its group. The websites mentioned in the article were all major players that I've used before, probably on hundreds of occasions. Some people ask "Why?" "Theres torrents, they're better". Truth is, they arent always better. You need the community behind it for it to work. If your downloading something that isn't widely popular, or something "odd", a file sharing website is better.

As an example I'll go ahead and tell everyone that good Hentai/Doujin torrents are hard to find, most are on file sharing websites.

However, with actions like these being taken, these companies will all crash down. Their website is next to useless, if you can only download what you've uploaded. Apparently that either didn't go through their mind, or they were more concerned with other matters, but if this is what they're going to do, they might as well shut down the website. I'll more than likely never use these website again.

Also, the end of the world is irrelevant to this.

The government will never be able to eradicate file sharing, so you have nothing to worry about. There will always be alternatives.
