Tyga - The Gold Album: 18th Dynasty

Gonna start making more of these threads for new albums I listen to.

Don't think many people actually know about this album since it was supposedly delayed but Tyga tried the surprise release that has worked well for various artists such as Drake and Kendrick... Guess he forgot he isn't Drake or Kendrick since the general public didn't seem to bat an eye lash. I'm not overly high on Tyga but I do think most of his haters are more bandwagoners and haven't given him a real chance. I do like some of his stuff. You don't really come to Tyga for great word play or meaningful lyrics but he does have a certain sound to him.

At the end of the day this album is like a 6/10 at best I'd say. It's certainly not garbage but only 7 of the 12 tracks made it through my preliminary listening to my rap playlist and I wouldn't be surprised if one or two more fall out in a bit. At the end of the day the album is kind of carried by the production though as Kanye came through big time with the beats imo.

Have you guys given it a listen yet?

 

Only recently started listening to Tyga, I will listen to it this week.
I haven't read your review yet as I'd like to listen to it first. Otherwise I can't help but find myself focussing on the pros/cons pointed out by others.
