A membership scam, just heads up.

So recently, there's a user (yes, this happened at hackfourms) who's apparently came up with a new way of scamming.

What he'll do is make a post where he says he'll give anyone a free subscription if they will give him their username and password.

Although skeptical at first, he'll give memberships to level 3's you provide him to "test" his legitimacy.

After you check that your level 3's are members, many of the users believed him and gave him access to their main accounts so he could apply membership on there.

And he won't scam them just yet.


But soon enough the next day, you'll find your main account banned due to negative credit because he'll be pulling the subscription back after he's contacted his bank (or whatever transactors).

Once he pays back the negative credit, he'll get your account despite your recoveries because billing info is always more important than your recovs. And since he knows your password, provided jagex with all his billing info, and probably registered an e-mail while you were offline, this guy basically stole your main for 10-13 bucks. And the mains he gets are worth way more than 10-13 bucks.

So when anyone asks you for your username and password so he can make you a membership, say no, despite however legit he seems. He managed to steal 2 root admins' accounts and many trusted members accounts on HF.

Even if he gave membership to a level 3, I wouldn't give anyone access to my main file.

Also, this scam is pretty well known already, but most people don't want to spend 10-13 bucks to scam it, as then to unban it, you will need 10-13 bucks more! :O

 

well what he did was spend 10-13 bucks for membership, have his bank pull the payment back (basically taking back the 10 bucks from jagex he paid). Jagex bans the account, he pays Jagex back. And there he has the account.

At least that's what I'm thinking he did. But then even if my info was wrong, it's better to know that any offer that seems too good to be true, is false.
