I think it is worse for the lady who dressed as a Boston Marathon victim.

Personally, I don't find it offensive, however people more affected by the attack may find it offensive.

Agree with your point, same should apply in a sense

Would you say that is because it is more recent?

People often make WW2/Holocaust jokes and not much people get offended
Its starting to apply to 9/11 even though it was a national tragedy
Theres a unspoken rule on the internet that goes something like "If 10 years have passed,It can now be joked about"

I feel much of the controversy surrounding this has a lot to do with people creating emphasis on death where it really shouldn't exist. Not to say 9/11 wasn't a terrible tragedy, but everyone dies eventually. Last time I checked, making light of historical events was not considered immoral or offensive.

Case in point: If you make a funny joke about the Boston Massacre, everyone laughs; if you make a funny joke about 9/11, the room goes silent and suddenly you're a horrible person.

It is impossible to cause offense, only take offense. There is nothing wrong with what they did. You can not live your life by pandering to the sensibilities of others.

I think it's more embarrassing for the school, showing they accepted people into their school that would do things like this.

It's a Uni not a school, however expanding on your point, they are (or have) gone in-front of the Proctor for this event (Proctor is like your head teacher so to speak)

The girl who dressed up as a victim was worse cuz she was joking about those who were actually injured (much more of a connection between the costume victims). The twin towers girls are making a joke of the event and the ties to victims and those affected are there but not to the same extent.

It is fucked up, this is like dressing up as your mother who was mutilated, like what is the logic behind dressing up as the twin towers?

Americans consider colleges and universities schools... since they are.

Must be a cultural/regional thing, you would never hear of a Uni being called school in the UK :)

Primary School > Secondary School > University
    Primary School > College.................> University

This is very disgusting and I am sad that it isn't just a minority of our generation who act like this.

Previous comment doesn't console the costumes, still a tragedy being made a mockery of but some Americans seem to see their terms as universal..

    I thought it went;
    Primary school > secondary school > college/6th > uni.
    Or
    Primary school > year 9 > job.

Also I didn't know there was anyone on here that lived so close to me haha, I'm from blacon man, are you just here for uni or do you live local? Go chester a lot? Also know the girl on the right, this wasn't one of her best ideas imo.

    Bingo, for public schools anyway.

OT: I can see how some may be offended, but then again is there an uproar when people dress as "Zombie Jesus" or some other religious figure, such as a priest.

While I agree they're not trying to take the piss out of the event. I can see the whole "disaster / horror" theme behind it, which is fitting with Halloween. The club managers remarks though are total bullshit.

Bullshit. When I was at University, the area of the Uni I was in was called the "School of Architecture".
Also, Primary > College ? What drugs are you smoking.
