Were to start. A guide for the begginer.

In this guide we will basically go over were to begin gfx and sig making. I see many beginners asking the question "Were do I start? What programs do I need? Were can I find tutorials?" I am attempting to solve these question in one thread.

First off, I will answer the question "Were do I start?". Starting off can be a bit overwhelming for a beginner but try to stick with it and not to give up. Once learned gfx can be a fun past time and maybe a good source for rs cash if your good enough :p. So onto the question. You will need to acquire the proper programs for one. There are many ways of doing this(buy, keygen, etc. ). Illegal methods will not be discussed to abide by the sythe.org rules. Tutorials are a good source to learn from but as you read them remember you don't have to follow them exactly. Try to develop your own style, something you like. Never let others put you down. If they are giving constructive criticism then try to listen to it but don't let them put you down with things like "You suck! Quit!" just let the mods deal with those kinds of people. If you have some cash to blow you might even try getting some lessons.

The programs you will need for sig making can vary depending on how serious you want to get. The most popular programs are gimp and photoshop. Photoshop being better. Gimp, however, is a free ware program were photoshop is not. As you advance programs like c4d and Apophysis can be nice to use. These can be obtained by looking through the GFX programs sticky or by googling.

There are many places that you can find tutorials. This site has some good ones but you might want to venture out. A wonderful site for tutorials is gamerenders.com. Just register and check out their tutorials section of the forums. For beginner's at this site I recommend Mesmerizes tutorial, Nuky's full sig tut 1 + 2, and as you get a bit better, Durial20's K-Tutorial. There are limited tutorials here however, so just remember that there are other places out there with tutorials. If you have some extra cash an don't want lessons you might also try buying specialty tutorials or learning rights on signatures. Lastly , getting you sigs rated and getting advice giving on them can be helpful so just post them in the Signatures and Avatars section. Just post them, people will be there to help you!

I hope you have learned something from this Were to start guide. Thanks.

A note from durial20: Also don't be afraid to use brushes.
Alot of beginners see me,darbs, haunted, etc. using defaults with good work thats only cause we have had our experience from brushes and have now moved onto defaults. START WITH BRUSHES. I've only met one guy who was good with defaults and never used brushes, but that was because he couldn't download any and he was forced to defaults only.

I have an extremely basic tut on the photoshop interface that I made for school. Might post that along with a signature tutorial.
