How to overcome a staking addiction?

I really can't bring myself to not do it.

I make money just to stake it.
If I get some extra money on PayPal, I buy RSGP and stake it.

For example, the other day with the insta-kill darts, I went to Nex.
Made about 50m. Staked it, got to 100 and walked away.
This morning, I staked the 100m and got cleaned.
Last week I was cleaned for 130m.
Two weeks ago I was cleaned for 90m.
Last month I was cleaned for 173m.

I've tried bossing/ganos to make money.
I've never had a boss drop.
Therefore, bossing starts to get depressing/boring after just one trip, and I give up and can't find the motivation to go on.

With Ganos, slayer, and every other money making method, there's two things that stop me:
1. How slow I'm making money really puts me off.
2. Knowing that I can double, quadruple, octuple, etc. my bank in minutes, rather than spending days making it is what pushes me to do it aswell.

I can't quit Runescape temporarily or give my account to a friend for a bit, because it's an addiction. When I get access again, I'd stake.

I'm coming in to contact with money occasionally, just to get cleaned.

I'm sure I wouldn't feel the need to stake if I had gotten like.. a 300m drop at Nex that day, as I'd raise my stats, be able to last longer then 3 boss kills at bandos/15 at arma(137 cb, but 78 herb), but even then, who knows.

Any advice? :/

 

Im somewhat in the same position, whenever i get money, i go play h/c in world 2. Been cleaned 5 times 40-60m each time. Its annoying, but i guess runescape is just dead now and no reason to play anymore :/

When I do have like.. 100m even, I find myself bank sitting the majority of the time on RS.
The only time I feel thrilled is when I'm staking.

 

Only time i feel thrilled is when my pure clan has a mini war, only reason i still play. Set a goal for yourself, go start saving for a rare. Lets say, green Hween hat.

 

If I bought the H'ween, I'd stake it. xD
I've always wanted a Purple Phat, but if I went for it, I'd try to stake my way there. :/

Its all in the mind set, you know you just loose your money whenever you go to the arena, just try to keep your mind on the negative effects of the arena.. thats how i overcame my staking addiction, i am forever in the mind set i'm only going to loose money there and i have the willpower to not go there, something which must be self-taught

 

Anytime you have the urge to stake i'd just log off RuneScape and think about all the times you have been cleaned. Try setting your goal to get a Purple Partyhat and think to youself every time you stake, you'll be back at 0.

 

I advise you get your account banned and stop playing runescape for good if you want to kick you gambling addiction. You will always have the temptation to gamble away your cash if you continue playing runescape and if you don’t have the will power to overcome it then leaving runescape is your only option. Conquering an addiction is tricky and unfortunately there isn’t simple fix for overcoming one. I’m sure gambling addicts don’t hang around at the dog track even though they are trying to stop gambling and recovering crack heads don’t kick it at their favorite crack house when they want to stay clean. Imo you only have 2 options either stay in runescape and keep gambling or move on.

 

Staking addiction is the same as an IRL gambling addiction. You should honestly try and contact Gamblers anonymous or anything similar to this in your area. You don't want this behavior to continue otherwise you'll find yourself out of money constantly.

 

I hit this problem a while ago. I was making anywhere from 50-150mil a day, just to go get cleaned at Cora Dyce.

When I got ranked, I pretty much wagered away every 50mil I made hosting.

Your best bet is to just stop playing. Gambling will always cause you to lose. What I've found myself doing with any GP I buy is doing non-refundable things like donating to Sythe and buying stuff you actually want. For me it's Marijuana. No, I'm not encouraging you to do that by any means, but find yourself something else to spend money on before you hit the point of no return.

 

Some people get lucky when they make their BILLS staking. Bot you though so dont worry mene either

This. It's all in your mindset. Lack of self control is a problem which can be solved by telling yourself the negatives IMO.

 

How about just not do it anymore? I smoke a lot of pot and if I wanted to not smoke a lot of pot I would just not smoke a lot of pot.

 

Switch to dicing? Nah but seriously when you want to stake just think about getting cleaned, works for me. You can also stake small? Actually not really a good idea because when you lose small you always think let me go higher and win back and end up losing bank. Moral of the story, quit staking get a new habit such as pking or something.

 

I don't know if it would help at all, but honestly if i think about how pissed i get when i have an addiction and it doesnt go my way, i will tend to stay away from it. So if you think you are going to get cleaned then you may not feel like doing staking. Just a thought though b

 

Learn to be able to control yourself....

 

It's all in the brain, you probably have an addictive personality, tbh you should never experiment with drugs lol, but what you do it dont go.. Think about all the hard work you put on to get the cash.

 

Can't control myself gambling in-game either, every time I get a large sum of money I always lose it with flower game or dicing back when it wasn't removed. Now I just concentrate on my leveling my skills.
