Since you'll be really small, find yourself a niche. You won't be able to compete with bigger companies.

I'm sorry but it's not going to work.
People would rather get NIKE than a smaller unknown brand of shirt.

Make clothing that appeals to a small subculture like skateboarding. Have them start wearing them and soon as you know it other people would want to buy them. It'll be like an exclusive brand name. LRG was like that before.

Skateboarding is huge, you will probably want to go smaller than that if you want to achieve success.

Well most companies start small in order to get big. I would agree with the sub-culture thing. What about guinea pig tees or Shuffling. Or just funny quotes?

To get big, you need to start out small. It takes time and needs a lot of time and effort put into it. I don't really have any ideas for a logo or slogan as such but a good topic to start out with is Funny Quotes T-Shirts or create a logo and just print a little logo on the front of the shirt or a medium sized one. The most popular shirts are the ones that aren't overdone. Simplistic is the key, keep at it and good luck.

I disagree, I would rather buy one of his t shirts than get a t shirt like nike that everybody wears.

Make a design. I cool name that people wear. A lot of brands get big because they have cool names and logos.

    Examples:
    Tapout
    Famous Stars and Straps

I've personally never bought, nor even though about buying a Nike shirt before.
And honestly stating, I've maybe seen one Nike shirt in person in my life and that was when I used to play basketball.
I used to advertise and model for a small clothing company of who's designs I preferred over the shirts I had previously bought.

If you want to grow at a seemingly fast rate (for this type of business anyways), make some "prototype" designs, get a few of them printed on some t-shirts, and work your way onto social networking sites.
Find some people with a very high friend count (such as those scene kids on MySpace) and make a deal that you will give them a free shirt if they take a picture with them wearing it and provide your company's web address underneath the picture.

One company that I worked with before had used that method and jumped from a little over 500 friends to over 70,000 in a matter of two months (on MySpace, of course)
It's just a suggestion as to what you could do to spread the word, assuming that your designs fit the wants of an every-day teenager.
