    Trouble sleeping

i can hardly sleep anymore. i get a few hours of sleep a day, but its never constant. i will wake up, and then sleep for a little, then repeat. it's getting progressively worse and there is nothing i currently do that works. i had a doctor prescribe me trazadone, which is similar to xanax but with out the addictive traits. i've been taking this before bedtime, as it is supposed to make you pass out, but it doesn't work. the next thing to take is a prescription tranquilizer, but i fear that because its addicting, and if i ever wanted to get off of it, it would be too hard. i dont know what to do, do you guys have any suggestions?

Just try not too sleep for a while time. Sooner or later you'll become tired and will need to go to sleep.Maybe this way you will sleep for a longer period of time. Maybe that will work. You should try that if you haven't.

    Trouble sleeping

well, last night, for example, i wanted to go to bed at 2am. i stared at the ceiling for a couple of hours, then said fuck it "ill watch tv until i pass out" 6am came around, at that point i tried to force myself to sleep again, with no success. after an hour and half of staring at the ceiling (730am) i was finally able to fall asleep. during this time i woke up several times, 11am being the last time i woke up. at that point i decided it wasn't worth trying to go to bed again. ive been up since and its almost 5am. im not tired in the least bit, and i dont see myself sleeping anytime soon. no matter what i try, i cant seem to sleep. shit sucks bad. this is what ive been dealing with every night :S

edit: you can even check posts on sythe to see that ive been up at late hours.

Does it affect you in any way? If it doesn't I don't see why you bother changing. Your body has adapted to this type of sleeping pattern, maybe that's why you can sleep easily or earlier than other times. I would help but that's the most I can do ): Sorry.

    Trouble sleeping

Shit I had a similiar thing during the summer, but I don't think it was as bad as yours. I fixed it by going to the gym around 4-5pm and jogging at around 8pm. By the time I was home and had showered I was too tired to do anything and just fell asleep.

Any days where I didn't do this, no matter what time I went to bed (sometimes as early as 9pm since I was so tired) I couldn't sleep until about 4am. I'd lie there looking at the ceiling for a few hours until someone texted me or something and then I'd spend a few hours on my iphone playing apps or whatever. I'd fall asleep usually 5:30. One night I was awake until my family started waking up and I just decided to pretend I just woke up. I fell asleep that day at 4pm, I literally passed out while doing my homework.

The only advice I can offer is to try and wear yourself out by exercising and not eating any food past, say, 7pm and drinking milk with some honey before you go to bed, it helps me sometimes.

Good luck, I hope it gets better.

Do you do any physical activity? Normally I don't go to bed until 4am.. but on days I workout I sometimes fall asleep at 9pm and sleep like a baby. Try tiring your body out; if you mind and body aren't tired you will have a harder time falling asleep then if your body was tired but your mind is not.

How do you react to caffeine? If you time it right, you can attempt to fall asleep from a caffeine crash. :p

    Eat lots of turkey.

yes, i feel weaker and unhealthy. it probably has adapted, but for the worse.
i usually like to work out and stuff but lately i've felt too weak to do so. its making me mad that i cant work out because it seems like a negative chain reaction. i know its healthy to work out, and that does tire my body, but im feeling to weak to have a good work out. i guess i should just try running, that is a little less strenuous and would ware out my body.
i was working out when i was feeling better, but i can't turn of my mind. i am constantly thinking thinking thinking, and sometimes i want to react on what i think, which makes it much harder to sleep. also, if i have any type stimulant in me, it is near impossible for me to sleep, even on crashes.

    -----

to be honest, i was smoking weed heavily and occasionally taking xanax for a year straight. since ive been off of it, it has been a bitch to sleep.

To get rid of stress you simply have to be happy and worry free. If you are always worried you will always be stressed out. Try to find solutions to your issues. Family problems? Try to work it out. Want to ask a girl out? Do it and if she says no, know that you tried and you can get over it. Don't keep things bottled up thats what causes stress. For example if you never ask a girl out that you really like you will always be thinking about "what would she say." You have to stop thinking and start doing. If you want to be more specific, what exactly are your main problems if you care to get into the details?

It's ironic how you say you stopped working out because you were unhappy. I'd tough it out and keep working out because it's proven that working out MAKES you happier. Something about releasing something to your brain.. I don't know the science behind it lol.

its not that i worry about things, its that i just think about things. for example, i will just think inside my head about what happened during the day. its not good or bad, i just think about it and review it. if im thinking about tomorrow, its not that im nervous about tomorrow, i just think about what i want to do, and i go on a ramble of all the things i could do. sometimes when i think of something good to do, i dont want to wait until tomorrow, it makes me want to stop trying to sleep and do what i thought about.
also, i didn't stop working out because i was unhappy, i stopped because i felt too weak to even try. working out and excersizing does infact make me feel better and happier. i am unhappy because i cannot work out right now, when i want to. but like i said, i will probably start running tomorrow.

Work out, probably run, until you are physically worn down. Stay awake after your exercise until whatever desired time you want to start your new sleeping pattern, then crash. If it works the first day then do it a couple more days then hopefully your body adapts. That's all I got, it worked for me a while back.

Ok well what you explained isn't really stress then so thats good. It sounds more of a nutrition problem. How unhealthy are you? Are you taking a multivitamin? If your too weak to do things i'm sure it has something to do with your nutrition.

Just go for a walk before going to bed. Fresh air and some healthy tiredness should work :)

If you use the computer much, go to sleep more early, it will help for sure.

Don't use the computer an hour before you go to bed and if you wake up don't get up just lay in bed.

I've gotten prescribed some medicine to sleep, and I just take it an hour before I want to go to bed and as long as I'm not online, it works great.

I don't know if you believe in the whole medicine thing, though.

Another good way if you like reading is read before sleep. I found that I sleep much better if I spend an hour before bed reading instead of TV/PC.

I went to the doctors today. they say its because i have stopped self medicating myself. i just need to get in a groove again, and also allow a couple of weeks for the trazadone to kick in. thanks for all your input, this thread can be closed now.
