Is the money method, "Gift" In paypal safe?

Title says all, if i were to buy something for large amounts of money, ($300+) would sending the money through the paypal method called "Gift" be safe? Ive sold a $30 item someone in paypal, and he payed with Gift, and it all worked out great in the end. But could someone please explain it all to me? Thanks.

If the paypal account is stolen then the "claim and cancel" and "gift" methods of sending both don't work, both of the accounts will get locked.

 

Hmm ok, but could the buyer get the money they sent through gift back in any way? (if it is a legit trade, no scamming invovled)

 

I think if you still call your credit card company saying you didn't make the payment it'll be charged back.

 

No, gift doesn't fully work. But people like to think it does. I guess it helps them feel at ease.

For payments over $100 i would suggest using western union

 

People seem to think gifts can;t be reclaimed but they can and will send your account into the red.

Not worth it imho.

 

There is no 100% safe way to receive money on Paypal. The "Note" is useless because it's not legally binding in any form.

I think you mean you are selling something, and if you are, any form of payment can be claimed back.

If you're buying something, I would advise not to send it as a gift if it's a Runescape / game item. He could easily recover the account or whatever, and it's harder to get a gift back over just a regular payment.

 

It's not safe, mostly anything relating to online virtual trades on paypal can be recovered with merely a simple phone call.

 

its not 100% safe.

 

thats why you use claim and cancel method.
