Grand exchange in OSRS?

Several polls ago.."trading post/system" sounds a hell of a lot like the grand exchange. How much longer until this gets implemented? Any further news on it?

 

I think it's taking some time to implement all the characteristics of a trading system that everyone will be happy with.

I think it will be similar to the GE, however there is the possibility that all it will do is help connect users and you would have to still manually trade, kind of like an in game Zybez price guide. We can only guess for now until they let us know what they've come up with, but there will be some form of trading system coming in (hopefully) the not so distant future.

 

The community seems kind of <Istruggletofindapoliteword>. The discrepancy from questions 2 and 3 make no sense. It sounds exactly like the grand exchange. 72% support not trading in-person but rather through the post, but only 48% support offline seller offers? Why then would 48% support buy offers being visible offline?

I wasn't against the grand exchange at all. I think some of the "who gets the best deal for their money" math behind the scenes could be tweaked because of the RWT/merchanting aspect but the actual automation of trade only helps the economy. Everyone goes to Zybez or something similar to do all their trading anyway, Runescape might as well do it -- why outsource a trading system y'know?

 

Yeah I get where you're coming from. It's also impossible for Jagex to please everyone so some people are going to have to compromise. Currently it's people who just want everything to be quicker and simpler, and if they make it quicker and simpler, those who like the nostalgic aspect of trading the traditional way will have to compensate (and hence moan).

I think it's a really difficult situation to resolve, and I can't see Jagex jumping in with both feet too early. They need to get it right to maintain that the game isn't completely straightforward and easy for everyone, but at the same time making it easier for players to do what they need to do.

Personally I want a trading solution such as the GE. You got what you wanted at the price you wanted it for. If someone was willing to sell or buy at the same rate you were, you got your deal. Simple economics, demand and supply.

 

It's not a grand exchange. It's an online-only trading system, basically an in-game Zybez.

 

I definitely agree with you on this. Now they're bringing legacy to RS3, that really doesn't make any sense. Keep the games completely separate...

I'm not really asking whether or not you want it to happen; I'm saying there was a poll and the community voted in favor so I'm wondering if there's been any news on when this will be implemented. At this point I don't think it's a "if" it's a "when" -- the two of you should've voted no when you had the chance.

 

It was released in 2007. You obviously didn't play then, and you're trying to sound like one of these hard ass kids that pretend to know what they're talking about. The GE didn't ruin shit. It made certain items less expensive - oh fucking well. There's still not as big a playerbase, so prices wouldn't fluctuate so freely.

This all being said, the trading post > the GE.

It will probably take some time, but if it is like the GE, then it will help and not help 07 in various ways. Help as in making buying/selling easier, not help as in it will be harder for merchers to deal with.

 

It's not the grand exchange, in fact it's totally different from it.

It'll be like an in-game zybez, not something that completes offers for you automatically.

I don't know when it'll be implemented, probably not so soon. I'd give it a few months.

If Question 1 passes, should players be able trade items through the trading post rather than having to meet up to use the existing trade system?

There is all this chat about the authenticity, but in my view the GE was one of the best things that ever happened to runescape!

07 scape shouldn't have to exactly how it used to be, personally I think a GE or something similar would be a good update to bring in.

 

Once again, point of the thread was not to ask your opinion on the update. As far as I can see, the update will go through. The community voted and the measure was passed. It's only a question of when (which is the question I'm asking)
