The Current Inflation who`s to blame.

I'll start with my opinion then people can state theirs. Please don't just say something like " It's good " Give some logical reason's for it...

I don't think that its an unfair way to make money that's not why i think it should be changed. I believe it should be changed because of the inflation that it causes. Items such as yew longs and natures, mask's, santa's, bandos, armadyl, gs's and other expensive item's are over priced due to the 76k trick.

Think about how the economy works. the more money cash there is in circulation the more expensive items are. Now think back to the old runescape that had much more stability. My guess is that %99 of the ingame currency is there as a result of alchemy which is turning items into money. Also Selling items to a shop. Those 2 method`s caused a slight inflation that was hardly noticable to most players. But it`s expected for there to be more currency as time pass`s.

Now when jagex first released the new bounty hunter item`s crashed. in order to fix it they introduced a new drop system that did more harm then good. Item`s that can be straightly processed into cash.
This is the problem of the 76k and the entire drop system. It is not natural for large sums of money to be introduced into the economy.

Now instead of cutting yew log`s, fletching them into bows and alching them. which caused slight inflation that was controlled because people had to buy or get the product to produce sum`s of cash. People can now 76k trick every30-60 mins, with a large chance to get these item`s such as statues that can be traded extremely quickly for large sum`s of cash. which causes the inflation we are currently seeing in runescape.

Now I`m not solely blaming 76kers but when jagex tryed to fix the crashing items such as fury`s and dfs`s they also made the economy even more unstable by causing the current inflation.
    GOOD JOB JAGEX.

Remember all inflation end`s at some point and when it does get ready for 9/10`s of the rs population to spam the rs forums because they don`t understand inflation.

Sorry if you got lost i`ll re read later and try to make nicer.

Yes, that's all true, but clan merchanting has also affected much of the economic turmoil.

It`s causing inflation but on select item`s. This type the type of inflation im talking about cover`s a different aspect Clan merching deal`s with supply and demand inflation. And the overall currency deals with the majority of other over priced item`s Because i doubt clans are buying out yew logs and such.

Clan merchanting means that more people have more money. If more people have more money, they are willing to pay more for items. If they are paying max for a bandos chestplate, the price with rise the next day. It continues.

I also doubt that people are getting yew logs in drops from the 76k trick. If your theory proves true, then so does mine.

clan merching take money from other players to players in the said merching clan. because when they dump the item`s players have to buy them for the clan members to earn profit.

The reason yew logs are inflated is because the 76k trick/drop system introduces large sum`s of money into the economy everytime someone trade`s one of the item`s they get in. Which causes there to be more money in the economy. I Know your theory is correct and how clan merchanting works. It just causes inflation in a less overall way.

The answers quite simple. Merch Clans. What people don't realize is that merch clans aren't just people in the CC, or subscribers to the youtube channel. No, trust me, it's a lot more than a few hundred. You forget the people that advertise in world 2, and the heavily populated worlds. People join the cc, look at the item, buy it and never join again. Thousands of people a day could join and see the item that is being merched and buy it too, hoping to make it rich.

yes but usually what happans in merch clans is that not everyone will be able to sell there item`s. then they have to wait for the item to sell at min which can take days on some occasions. And the price goes back down after it`s been dumped. which does not introduce more money into the economy. The inflation from the pvp drop system causes most items to be more expensive then they should be and they willl stay inflated untill the pvp drop system is changed.

you guys are going off topic. Josh is right. merch clans dont introduce new money into the game, they just circulate money, and eventually the items they merch drop back off to their normal price. With the 76k trick, you can introduce like 20m cash into the game within an hour. which causes items to way up, since way more ppl can afford them. And when more ppl are bringing in more mills to the game, more items will get affected, and eventually everything will be unaffordable.

It's not only about introducing items into the game, though. Sure, the 76k trick impacted the economy, but so did clan merchanting. If people are randomly becoming rich for no work at all, they tend to pay more for items instead of being patient.

If you really, honestly think about it, the Grand Exchange is the cause of all inflation.

Edit: We're not going off-topic. The title is "The Current Inflation who`s to blame."

The statues hypothetically can just bring up to 5 million into the game, I agree with your post and that most people may not fully understand inflation, especially the younger kids playing.

Yes it is true that "clan merchanting" is hurting the Runescape economy, but it isn't the cause of the overall inflation. The OP is absolutely right, the new PvP/BH drop system is adding large sums of excess cash into the economy very quickly. We've really never saw this problem before because Runescape used to be a free trade market; but now, all the items are set in stone and the effects of the PvP changes is dumping large quantities of cash into the market.

Egh. I'm not saying that the PvP didn't change the economy, I'm saying that it wasn't the only thing to blame.

Clan merchanting, and the GE in general, does not truly "create" money - it REDISTRIBUTES it.

The only ways coins themselves are created is by alchemy, coinshare, and trading items to the general store or a NPC. We agree that these are generally slow methods.

The only way coins LEAVE the economy is when they are dropped, a player is permbanned, or when the player buys an item from an NPC or store.

Thus, the fact that a new way of creating coins in game has been introduced is a large factor in this inflation - never before could 5M be simply "created". Previous drops only earned the player money that was already in-game, such as selling a d-chain to another player for coins that already existed.

Indeed, this is offsetting the delicate balance between coins vs items in game. Coins are coming in so fast that the overall money level is increasing faster then shops, bans, and drops can remove it - thus, more money + fewer items = higher prices. Supply and demand.

IMO clan merching isn't helping at all... many players now has tons of bills (ex chessy018?) and so the items goes up since they can now afford them.

76k trick doesn't help also... since it's easy free cash and I makes me believe that some people who were in the past, runecrafting runes or using a skill to make cash are now gone lazy ''76k'ing'' and so the demand vs supply is gone higher.

Seriously just go into W2 and look at the I don't know how many different merching clan chat that are spammed every seconds.. that's totally insane.

Or maybe it's just the summer that made the prices goes up since before the beggining of it, price weren't as high as now.

Inflation is defined as the overall decline in the value of money. If everyone in runescape had 100 million coins, then 100 mill would be worth nothing. Meaning people would pay higher prices for common items; such as yew logs etc. So, with so many players introducing exorbitant sums of money into the game a day (through 76k tricks) the value of money declines.

    *Edit--
Price manipulation is also to blame, when the clan leaders dump their manipulated goods, they gain a margin of new gp that seems like it wasn't in the game before, but, that money came from the unknowing people who invested their hard earned cash. In return an amount of that money is redistributed to the high ranking clan officers, probably with a small amount of ex
Extramoney added on. like I said this doesn't help but the amount of players actually gaining substantial amounts on this method is too few for much inflation to be a factor. With 76k tricks being done At all times of the day by numerous amount of players it's only natural that compared to price manipulation clans 76k tricks bring in much more new gp per day.

I'm on my iPod so this probably will sound choppy, sorry about that.

Like said, price manipulation and also 76King which is introducing more money into the game, making the actual price of a "coin" worth less.

This would have NEVER HAPPENED IF WE HAD THE OLD WILDY AND WORLD 2 FALADOR.
