    Toshiba laptop problem... Help?

I have a toshiba laptop we have had for quite some time piling dust because its broken?
    It is a
    Toshiba
    Model: Satellite A215
Processor: AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile technology TL-58 1.90 GHz
    Memory (RAM) 1918MB
    System type: 32-bit operating system

Its vista and is probably '06

    Problems!
    1. I have to run in safe mode with networking to get online w/o getting BSoD
    2.Its pretty slow...

Is there a way to fix this?
Is it worth fixing? back in '09 it was an exceptionally nice computer. (To Me)
Please help me out here, tell me what it needs and if you want to connect to the computer and look at anything.

It did have a trojan or something like that on it at a time. It was like antivirus '10. But it hasnt popped up lately

    Any help is appreciated.

I'd try putting XP on it, vista is a resource pig as it is. You'll run it with NO problems whatsoever.
