    Java Keyloggers

    Hey everyone
Recently there have been many posts with attempts to scam people by keylogging them by using Java applets or whatever.

I myself fell for it but removed it before it could do any damage, If this is allowed, I'd like someone to explain it and tell how to prevent it

Obviously you can't click "Run" when the option comes up but is there anyway to know what's safe and whats not?

Sorry if this kind of thread isn't allowed, I just want to spread the awareness of it.

Pretty much anything posted on here I wouldn't trust. Other things you can do is just have an up to date antivirus that will warn you that the page is malicious even before the java applet pops up.

If there's a link to something off of this site requiring Java's permissions I wouldn't trust it though, even if it's an older account with a decent amount of post simply because that account could have been stolen.

Basically if something asks you to accept to run Java, don't do it, especially if you don't know what it is.

I personally use Avast! Helps a lot. It warns you everytime you visit a site if the site has any malicious software associated with it and gives you the option of disconnecting.

I downloaded Avast along with malware anti-bytes or w/e it's called and Ran a virus scan on both, MABM got rid of everything and found 8 things wrong, Avast requires you to pay to remove the items and only found 3 things.

If you ever encounter a java drive-by link, report it asap - sometimes we rely on the quick thinking of other members so we can get rid of the links before any members fall for it. And no, it's not allowed.... it warrants a permanent ban.

Bull shit. I can probably browse through the forums and pick out a few threads from this month alone that don't have the links deleted..

The mods here are honestly terrible at getting rid of the links, they just lock the thread and leave the malicious part in it..

Avast! Antivirus detects this (Jave Drive-By) so you know what applets are safe to run and which are not.

It's a free antivirus and in my opinion the best.

No, what I meant by that was is this thread allowed (is it in the wrong section)

Yea, mods only lock the threads and leave the phishing link or whatever there, I've noticed this too.
