Community?

Just a quick post to inform everybody here what I currently think of the in-game community.

It seems to me that the game is slowly moving on from being an online game where people from all age categories can play together - whether or not they choose to interact, to a game currently being overrun by either 12-14 year old's.. or people that just have that mental age.

Don't get me wrong, I know that 'Trolling' is a widely known thing throughout the web and lets be honest, we all love a good troll. It just seems to be getting out of hand widely throughout the game. The question you need to now ask is: When does it stop being trolling, and become that much of an annoyance that people avoid you at all costs?

I myself am widely known throughout this game and many other online games as being a troll, but I do know the limits. It just seems to me that within 6-12 months, if the game carries on in the same direction that its heading, it'll be dead before you can type the address in the URL bar. I myself play a lot of online games, this won't directly impact me as much as likely some of you and people I know fairly closely.

Raggers.
Trolls.
Bots.

I myself am just enjoying the ride before the game finally goes bump, with the new evolution of combat coming up, I'll likely quit anyhow and stick to some of the other companies who provide gaming to please their player base. Just ask yourself.. Are you one of those enjoying the ride, or are you one of those creating it?

I think the game is fine. It's just doing what it's been doing for a while but I'm just doing my own thing chillin so yeah..

 

The Game is already recovering from the dupe

 

When I first started, everyone was alot nicer. After my first week, I met a really high level, and he gave me 10k. Its not alot, but to me, it was jackpot. Also, I miss the times that people helped each other out for no reason, no reward. Like if you needed help on a quest, someone will guide you through the entire quest, maybe even show you were to go, and after that, you will never see him again. - now, if you ask someone, they will say "n00b, look it up, lmao, rofl lol"

I miss when the general stores were packed with activity. God, so many memories.

 

The community has always been terrible though. Just look at the forums, and realize they've been that way for years.

Also, half the community bots; the other half is adamantly against botting. There seems to be a rather large discord there.

 

Kick down my ego? Notice how the first section of my post refers to the title being incorrect in BOLD WRITING.

Also as an aside, you clearly called the topic 'Economy' as it's the hot-topic at the moment and you knew it'd get you more views. Very sly and shameful, you did actually have some good points in your topic but you nullified any chance of an intellectual response by doing so.

He clearly didn't read the actual topic, just assumed (Fairly) that it was about the economy since that's what the title is.

 

I remember when I started, everyone was polite and such but you still had the occasional asshole. These days, it's not as common to meet a polite player, although they're still around.

It won't necessarily kill the game, but it will destroy the community.

 

I remember a time when someone said to a friend that party hats came from random events and I corrected them - to this day I think I was fairly polite, at the very least I wasn't rude, but they called me a 'jackass'. That was about 3/4 years ago when I still played.
I think if that situation reoccurred today I'd be hailed as a saint because, frankly, the trolling situation is out of control as OP said.

 

I'm confused, you're telling me to get a grip because I'm sharing my thoughts on the in game community, yet you're posting on the thread with your thoughts and feelings on the matter.

A great example of an internet moron with low self esteem issues trying to make himself look more intelligent than he likely is. If I'm mistaken and your IQ is somehow as high as you want to make out my apologies, but you yourself have made yourself look like a moron. If you have as low an IQ as I'm presuming, congratulations to most you seem smarter than you are.

Look at when the post was last edited, it was seconds after I made the thread and noticed what I'd done. What makes you think 'Economy' would get more views that 'Community'. Making presumptions like that shows how much you're really looking to try and aggravate and show off your little intelligence.

Anyway, now I'm finished grilling the idiot of the week on to topic:

I remember back when I started I saved up around 800K for full guthix, I finally managed to buy full and then someone told me 1K yew logs was worth the same amount so I took it, I spent all day upset once I'd found out. I was explaining my story and some random person gave me 100K, it was the nicest thing I've had done to me on Runescape to this day.

 

Your opinion sure has some generalizations, but nonetheless it was an interesting one. As for what Mrluckydraw added, I agree 100% which tethers into what your gist of the Runescape Community currently is today. Unfortunately internet bullying has taken a rise, however Jagex has given us different privileges such as clan chat. Implements such as this help us to avoid negative confrontation from immature members, and keep the legitimate players "happy" whilst being surrounded by bots at the Ape Atoll, or such else. As for the lingering argument that's directly above my post, I have no comment

 

The new EOC could either break or make the game. If it results in the removal of most bots than it will surely help the game and the economy. Most people who will quit are those who will suck at playing with the new attack styles. There is no point in playing a game if it is going to be too easy. Personally, I have been with Runescape through all of its good as well as bad times. If i didn't quit the first time Jagex did something bad, than i won't quit now.

My Problems with Runescape:
-Economy isn't the best. Could possibly be fixed by EOC.
-Squeal of Fortune. The idea of a "lottery" in RS is good, but the fact that you can buy spins is just dumb.
-Runespan. This one is just a personal thing for me since I spent months getting 99 runecrafting via natures and all of sudden Jagex adds a minigame in which you can get 60k exp an hour.

 

This exactly, especially the general store bit! Before having god armour, treasure trail items and high stats meant something - now they're worthless! A 99 doesn't have any value any since the stats are so easily botable and even disregarding the bots stats have become so easy that even a 99 in runecrafting is nothing nowadays! Party hats were 20-30m years back and now they're billions - just showing how inflated the economy really is. Community, support and maturity has really declined and become something low quality - trolls, unhelpful people and really unsatisfactory results from Jagex! The main people to blame has to be no one else than Jagex! They've become sloppy income whores and think more about their current financial situations (milking what they have) rather than the future of Runescape (and making the most out of it)! I'd say if Andrew Gower had not left, the whole place would still be a whole lot better.

Runescape is advertised on Nickelodeon targeted at teenage kids.

Note: Supernatural is awesome!

 

The rs economy sucks because people sell/buy gold in my opinion. It's only gotten worse since free trade came back. Greed is so common in this game. For alot of people it's no longer about playing the game, but about how much money they can make.

Reading some of the memories people have on this thread just remind me of how much the game has gone downhill, at this point I don't see any turning back for the game.
