Tmoe's Guide to Writing an APA Report Part 1 of 2

This is part 1 of 2. This guide will cover APA Title Pages and Abstracts.

    Part 1:
APA Report, Title Page and Abstract

    Table of Contents:
1: APA Report, what is it?
2: APA Report, the Title Page + Example
3: APA Report, the Abstract + Example
    4: Terms

    APA Report, what is it?
While most people are familiar with MLA and Business Reports, there are also APA reports (American Psychological Association.) Unlike MLA/Business Reports, APA are mainly associated with scientific papers. These aren't used nearly as often as the common MLA/Business Reports.

APA Report, Title Page + Example
In order for a report to be an APA report, it must follow certain guidelines. Many teachers will fail a paper, if there's a simple mistake on it.

    Title Page Guidelines:
    • 5 inches down is the Long Title. (The entire title which should be bolded)
    • Now double space.
    • You should then SS the following: Students name, school, course, and date.

Please note, Class: School: Date: etc. should NOT be there. They are only there to show where things go.

    APA Report, Abstract + Example
An Abstract is what you would call an Outline on a MLA paper. Difference is, nothing is indented, and it's very short.(Should not go over 150 words.)

    Abstract Guidelines:
    • The entire document should be Single Spaced
    • The word "Abstract" should be centered, one inch from the top of the page, and BOLD.
    • The Abstract should NOT go over 150 words. Should maintain an area between 75-150.

Within the Header of the Abstract:
    • The title should be at the top of the page, left justified, and bold.
    • Page number should be right justified, bold. This should be on the same line as the title.

This is a very thrown together writing, it's just an example. (Dumb subject for a paper I know.)

    Terms
    • SS: Single Space
    • DS: Double Space
    • Long Title: Full title of the report. Ex: Electronic Mail Guidelines
    • Short Title: Shortened title of the report. This should be based off the main idea.

Constructive criticisim please :)... First guide I've written in over two years.

I wrote many papers in all formats last school year, and none of this is plagerizied. This is based off the knowledge I gained in my previous class and the notes I had taken.
