Farming Ticks?

Can someone help me understand what farming ticks are? When should I plant herbs/trees/fruit trees? Also, when should I log out or back in?

It was written for RS3 but the underlying mechanics still apply to OSRS.

Back when I did farming runes I really loved the OSBuddy's farming tool timers. Basically a tick is once in every x minutes, depending on the plant you're farming. OSBuddy shows you every time a tick gets completed. If you log out during a tick, it will reset from the beginning of tick when you log in.

 

I recommend these two things. The reddit link explains it perfectly and there's really nothing else to add.

If you're farming expensive seeds and you plan to be online all day you can use remote farming/geomancy to save a lot of money on protection costs.

 

So never logout or in at 0-5 minutes, 20-25 minutes, and 40-45 minutes of a certain hour?

 

Yeah you can check the ticks on OSBuddy. It was really annoying when you had to log out and a tree tick is over an hour lol.

 

I use this clock for every farm run. Seems confusing, but well worth it to farm efficiently.
