    Time, did man create it.

I was asked a question a few days ago and answered to the best of my ability. I know propose this question and my answer to you ladies and gentlemen to see if you have any argumants or different answers.

The question was: Did man create time?

My answer was and still is no, time was a constant of the universe before mankind came. If we are going upon the assumption that science is correct and we evolved into what we are now, then time had to be a constant of the universe before we appeared. My reasoning for this is that it takes TIME for things to evolve so that time existed before they did. In this understanding time had to have been existent in the beginning before the universe and will be after even though there is nothing to count it.

Man only discovered and created a means to counting time so that in this instance time is only a discovery of mankind. Yes we perceive time in our own way and in that understanding our understanding of time was created by us but not time its self.

Many scientists believe that time exists in the fourth dimension beyond mankind’s realm of dimensional thinking, so that time is beyond us and existent in and of its self is understandably reasonable. I would love to hear your arguments against this or for this statement.

    Time, did man create it.

You say time is a constant, but you may want to edit that to make it more clear. Time is not a constant, as it is relative to the viewer. The question then is, what if there is no viewer to perceive it?

    Time, did man create it.

Time wasn't really "invented", it was discovered. At first people used to look for things in nature e.g. leaves falling of trees, and knew it was time to stock up food as it was going to get colder. It then became more developed, and now we have come far enough to say seconds instead of seasons.

Time was discovered. In my eyes you cannot create time which is non dependent of anything we have discovered so far. It was here before we were because it is infinite. I dont know if it has a beggining or an end, its kind of complicated to comprehend when you get deep into it. The answer will reveal itself with time IMO (no pun intended).

By saying time is infinite you are also saying that the universe is infinite, when in fact it has a definite beginning and before that there technically isn't time because there wasn't space or universe for 'time' to exist in.

I didnt say the universe was infinite lol. I said time was, time existed before the universe did. There couldve been another universe other than ours that was here long before we were. Time is a mystery and is hard to fully comprehend, seeing as we cant comprehend infinity. Also if time did have a beginnning, what existed before time? Nothing? And if nothing existed before time, what caused time to exist?

As i said before, time is hard to comprehend when you get deep into it. And i never said the universe was infinite, just clearing that up. How did you get that from what i stated before?

    Time, did man create it.

Time and space are linked into the space-time continuum. Before the universe there was no space, and therefore there was no time. Time, as with space and the universe, has a definite beginning and before that there is just assumptions of what may have been. You can't see before the beginning of the universe because there was nothing there, as far as we are concerned. Time began with the universe.

Read Einstein's theory of relativity and it explains it all, well all but the cosmological constant.

Time and space contract and expand relative to the speed of the viewer, which there proves that time isn't a constant.

what if there are more than once universe? We cant assume there arnt, and if so then time existed before this universe did. Even though it didnt exist in our universe it existed.

Other universes wouldn't matter, time isn't general to all universes. Time would be relative to each universe because they're different spaces. Time in our respect is not infinite.

    Time, did man create it.

The way most humans perceive time, it's infinite, there will always be, so to say.

The way it actually is, is what Nero is saying, time and space are a direct correlation. Without one, there is no other.

Of course time wasn't invented, or discovered. It just was. Did someone ay, wow this must be time. No when there was living beings, time had already existed, therefore, no one discovered it.

So time didnt exist before the big bang happened is what youre saying? I know youre talking about relative to the person, but time existed before that person and always has. you cant comprehend infinity but you know what it is.

    Time, did man create it.

Time did not exist before the big bang. The big bang created space/time when all of the gases expanded outward from the singularity. When there wasn't space, there wasn't time. Before the big bang we do not know what was there, but it wasn't space/time as we know it. Therefore space and time are not infinite.

^ What he said. There is no arguing that, unless it's pure opinion. Because that's the scientific though of time as we currently know it.

So what existed before the big bang? It sounds like youre saying the big bang just happened and appeared from no where. It leads me to believe there is some divine power that started it all since there is no explanation for the big bang coming into existence. Also some people believe the big bangs matter came from itself and it has always been there. The universe is always expanding correct? If so then what or where is it expanding into? The big bang was first just a very small collection of matter, but where was the matter located? If in space then where did the space come from and who or what created it?

So if something existed before the big bang then there mustve been a time that the big bang happened, as the picture above states, the big bang existed 13.7 billion years ago. But the place where the matter of the big bang was located was already existent therefore it already has an age.

We are all still learning and nothing is definite so please correct me If im wrong and explain why.

    Time, did man create it.

The Big Bang started from a singularity which is an infinitely small and infinitely massive point that expanded outwards. Before the Big Bang there was not space as we know it, because space or well the 'spacial membrane' that is connected with time to form spacetime was created during the Big Bang.

This is a really cool article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shape_of_the_universe

You are asking questions which there are answers, but it'd be easier if you read the articles yourself.

It's a phenomena which has always existed. We just invented a method of recording it.

these theories however are based around the idea that the universe was created via the big bang (most commonly accepted theory)

however have you thought about it from other creation theories

    Time, did man create it.

What theories are you suggesting? Currently there are few logical theories of universe creation. There is the Big Bounce and the Big Bang. The Big Bang is the more plausible theory that works with all of the accepted laws of physics, and the Big Bounce is an extension of the Big Bang that says right after the Big Bang there was a Big Bounce that was the result of a Big Crunch or a huge deflation of the universe. The Big Bang also works with the theory of the Multiverse, which says there are many universes that are all budding off each other and just float around in an 'outer space'. Then it gets too complex to explain.

What other cosmological theories are you suggesting, as I am happy to take a look at them and study up.

But are we talking about time as an abstract or time as a thing? Because if we are talking about time as an abstract concept then there is a huge difference from time in physics. Theoretically time could have existed forever, but theoretically I could have existed forever. If there are multiple universes this could just be one incarnation of me that follows a time line infinite looping through alternate universes.
