Three Month Old Post Gets Infraction

So a post of mine made on March 11, 2010 (also happens to be my join date) got infracted and I was wondering if there was anything set in place to stop people from digging through all of your old posts and reporting them regardless of the date the post was made.

Does date of post have any effect on whether or not infractions are given out?

That's why gravedigging isn't encouraged when posting on a thread. The best option you have now is to jus talk to the mod who infracted you for that post.

If you broke the rules and it went unnoticed, why does it mean you can't be infracted for it?

It depends on each case. We don't infract users because it makes us feel good, we do it so the user learns to follow the rules. If they've sharpened up and are no longer breaking any rules, there would be no point in infracting a 3 month old post.

I'm not sure if this was directed at me or in general, but it doesn't mean that you flat out can't be infracted for it which was why I brought up the question.

If your post goes unnoticed for three months it's pretty hard to get in trouble for it... Until someone decides they want to go on a reporting spree of course and not be smart enough to look at the date it was posted.
