What rap songs/artists do you believe are most motivational or influencial to you?

For me it would be: Dance with the Devil by Immortal Technique.

I listened to it years ago, and it changed my opinion on rap, i was like 'wow, i guess not all rap is about sex, cars, money'. I'm thinking of broadening my music range to cater for some good rap artists. Anyone that knows me, knows that i generally only listen to post-hardcore, hardcore, metalcore and deathmetal. So, please show me there are more good rap artists out there, other than Immortal Technique :). .

How does the song "dance with the devil" inspire you?
Does it make you want to sell drugs kill innocents and rape your mother? And I don't think it would be inspiring either, but heck that's just what I think.
I personally think the most motivational song is Lift by Shannon Noll fuck it's a gay song but the lyrics sure are motivational atleast more so then a Mexican thug..

That is one of the VERY few rap songs I like. I like how the song has somewhat of a story behind it, it makes the music more interesting. Excellent choice!

Dance with the Devil is inspiring in the sense that it has a message besides how many bitches you fucked last night.

@Kedge, Technique is not Mexican nor a thug. He is a Peruvian social rights activist who speaks his message through his songs, it does get old though.

Sorry, i didn't realise i was dealing with the mentally impaired. I don't believe i said it was inspiring at all. I said it was influencial. Which are COMPLETELY different to inspiring. It influences me to be true to myself, to be a good person, and not to try to be something i'm not, just to gain the approval of someone else. But, if we are going by your philosophy, i could also argue that it 'inspires' me to be a good person etc, though i never said 'inspirational' anyway.

No they don't, I believe I am right because I hardly believe that immortal techniques music is influential or motivational. I highly doubt he writes his own lyrics because if you read his biography he rapps next to nothing about his experiences to put it simple immortal technique is a fake and a shit rapper to boot

A lot of rappers do not rap about their experiences and a lot of rappers do write their own lyrics but this does not instantly void them from being great artists. The fact that you are dissing Technique with such an absurd accusation shows your little knowledge of the topic at hand.

Technique does in fact write his own lyrics, if you ever watch an interview of him he is very articulate. He is a great rapper for one reason, he is different. He raps about political and social situations. He is more than your usual "fuck bitches get money".
