LP WIP - book cover for school

We have to have plain brown paper bags for book covers for school, but we can have paper designs on them, so I decided to make my first ever LP to make my books less boring looking.

I keep making it look worse from here, I screwed up a clipping mask and it wont let me undo it, and the pinkish haze around him is incredibly nuked, any tips or hints?

BTW: do NOT say anything about the bottom being empty, that is where I am going to write the subject and my name, such as "Anatomy and Physiology: Dylan Antonsen."

Any comment and critique on what I got so far is welcome and helpful, first LP.

    Color choice ruins it imo.
The lines don't work on the piece and I think you should fill the space in another way.
Also the vector shapes/ brushes look incredibly dull and I think they should be removed.

I'm going to have to agree with haunted... What did you do, use a bad choice of layer? I think if you picked a nice color that would have good contrast with it, it would be better. And scan lines are a NO NO.

Unless you mean in this situation, that is rather hypocritical for you to say.

I think he means scan lines are a NONO when you plan to fill about 35% of an LP with them.
