My sound isn't working. Youtube acting wierd.

My sound isn't working. I plugged headphones in, and nothings working. Same for my speakers.
Also, when I try to view a video from youtube, it shows the video for 2 seconds, then stops. Whats wrong?

Edit: I went to volume control, but no budge. I also tried closing out the youtube tab, and going to a new video but no budge either.

 

Ok umm youll need to download something rather to play youtube i cant remember but for sound if you have a head phone dont plug in while speaker is on it may ruin the system which has happened to (me) umm but sometime newer headphone and dont work for older computers etc a 1999 other wize you should use the red end of the head phone and plug it into the light read socket which had a mike on it this will be either on back of your computer or front but dont plug it into a speaker one you can try if you wnat to =}

Plug your speakers in, if they are take it off plug it in and see if it says something along the lines of "found new hardware" if so post a reply, I will help on msn or something.

 

I think this is my problem. My little cousin was on the computer, and when I kicked him off, the headphones were plugged in, and the speakers were set at max. I restarted my computer last night, and the sound worked.

This happened to me today, again, thinking that my little cousin doesn't know how to work the volume...
