I used to own a Dodge Stratus, but it shit out on me, then I moved on to my Ford Mustang, but sold it when I moved from New York to Ontario. Now I'm looking at new cars... What do you guys think of this? Plus it's $2,500 less than what I sold my Mustang for, which is always good.









What do you guys think of this car?

1998 Honda Accord up for $1,500. It's a Coupe with 230,000 KMs. It's an automatic, front-wheel drive, has a new body kit, tinted windows, sun roof, heated leather seats, new motor gasket kit put in, dual exhaust, and was certified in September.

 

230k kms is what like 150k Miles?

That is a pretty good deal, the interior looks good but the body kit is ugly. Have you done a test drive?

 

It's about 140k miles. You don't like the body kit? I think it looks great imo.

I'm going over either tonight or tomorrow to do a test drive then possibly buy it.

 

If you aren't familiar with cars bring a friend or family member to check everything out before you buy it.

I don't like body kits. They're pointless, and doesn't add any appeal.

 

It's a great deal, and if i was looking for a new vehicle (car) this would definitely be an option.

If you do decide to purchase it, before hand i would hire a mechanic (like $30 USD) to do a check on the vehicle if you dont know a lot about cars. There are always things you need to fix when buying a used vehicle Such as the water pump, and if you dont have the correct tools to use to do it yourself you can possibly eating a $500 repair bill, especially because the car has abut 140k miles.

 

My dad knows enough about cars, he's going to check it out for me.

I'm mostly looking for opinions on the look/price rather than mechanical issues from you guys.

 

hondas are great dependable cars if the price is right and it runs well id go for it! The thing about most used cars with body kits is that the previous owner usually dogged the hell out of the vehicle wishing they were fast and furious -_-
as others have said always get a used vehicle checked out before buying by a mechanic or friend/family member that knows cars specifically imports.

 

Interior is nice, and their is no visible rust I can see, and for $1,500 the price is right.
I do not like the body kit though, I mean its a Honda Accord. Not a race car, it doesn't need to look cooler or be more aerodynamic, that's not what it is built for.

 

That body kit makes you look like a massive prick.

An Automatic accord with dual exhaust and a kit. Yeah, aren't you cool. What does that thing have 150 horsepower?

I think that thing is going to crap out on you, and I guarantee you that you won't look cool in it either. Buy something more reliable.

Edit: It has too many miles, but if you're going to ignore me anyway, at the very least have a third party mechanic inspect it first.

 

Fucking eh, someone hit the car in the parking lot. What are the chances that this happens right before I go to see it...

P.S. The Kelly Bluebook value on this ranges between $3-4k without the body kit.

140k miles is considered too many miles? It's a '98, it's bound to have miles...

 

Does look great, the main thing is, i dont know if america has it but run the license plate (in the uk we have a text system), to make sure it is not stolen or previously been claimed as scrapped just to be on the safe side.

 

take it for a drive and see how it sounds/runs. I'd definitely have a mechanic look at it. Since it's 200k+ and probably been flogged by the owner.

$1,500 is fair enough form the mileage, but at least you get leather seats and a bit of style

If it lasts you 2 years without breaking down it's a great deal

Looks like a pretty solid ride, and if it saves you some money that's always a plus as well.

 

Is that a V6? Looks like a good deal to me man. Headlights are kinda dirty tho

Kinda old and lots of mileage for the price, guess you're paying for its looks. Personally I like the body kit also. If your dad checks it out and says it's fine mechanical wise, I'd say go for it.

 

240K's is too much haha the body kit looks good too, i'd settle for another car though.

 

It's a good deal. I do find this to be very sketchy considering how the moment you decided to go check it out, it gets hit by another car. I personally would have it checked just to make sure.

I do like the body kit but it would've been much nicer if it was all in slick black.
