thinking about getting a tattoo

So i was thinking about getting a tattoo, im 21 so i can go get one if i want however my parents dont think its a good idea, it would be something simple like "you should appreciate what you got before it becomes what you had" on my back, they think its a stupid idea but its something i really live up to

 

personally, I wouldn't get that tattoo. I find it corny.

but you shouldn't care what other people think. if it's meaningful and something you live up to, go for it. it's your body, after all.

 

I'm not a big fan of them. I've heard countless people say how stupid they were to get a specific tattoo when they were young and rash. And all in all, it will be on your body forever too...is it worth it?

 

Put it this way, it's your body and you are your own person so if you want to get a tattoo, a piercing, etc, etc then go ahead and do so.

 

I guess thats why my parents arent really supportive of this idea and tbh that put me off so im trying to decide whether i should get it or not, and yes its something i live up to as corny as it sounds.

 

I've got 7 and totally regret 3 lmao. Get an idea and give it some time, revisit it in a year or so and see if you feel the same.

 

I personally am a very anti-tattoo person. If I were to get a tattoo it would be something way, way, way more significant than that.

Tell me, do you really need to tattoo a quote into your body because otherwise you will forget it?

 

Not quite, i like art and i do think tattoos are a form of art, and because its something i live up to, most people who get tattoos get them for a reason as it means something to them, to me this means something

 

Ok so tell me whats the purpose of this thread then, clearly you already made your choice that you want that tattoo and nobody is going to change your mind.

Seems to be that you are just looking for validation in order to not feel shitty at yourself once you make your decision to tattoo that quote into your back.

 

I havent made up my mind, as the title clearly states "thinking" which means im going over it in my head whether i actually want it, ive been thinking about it for a long time but one part of my body tells me no while the other says yes its like a 60/40 here, my parents however are not okay with me getting a tattoo because they are old.

 

If you aren't 100% sure you want the tattoo, then I would suggest not getting it for now. Like nodnarbusn said, give it some time and see if you still like the idea. The last thing you want is a tattoo that you'll regret.

 

I always wondered what people who received tattoos do when they get old and how it'd look. Other than that if you want it go for it, its your own choice in the end.

Ultimately it's your choice, but you must consider making the choice for the right reason.

I've deemed tattoos that are significant and hold a true meaning to be worthwhile, I just feel you need to understand is that quote worth it? I'm just questioning whether you would find it corny or cringe-worthy to have such a thing tattooed on your body.

I think re-evaluating why you truly want the tattoo will be helpful, don't let your parents dismiss you in to making a rash decision either way. Like I've said, your body , your choice...What we say I doubt will have little choice on your overall decision.

 

If you have to contemplate of a tattoo to get, don't bother getting one.

Do you think he will see this tattoo daily? or ever considering its on his back, its clearly not there so he remembers it.

Why are you anti-tattoo? Tattoo's are a form of art, there is no two ways about it, so are you against all forms of art too?
Whats significant to him, obviously won't be significant to you because you are two different people.




@OP in my opinion, give it a few months, even a year to consider a tattoo. If you are still dead set on it after a long time has lapsed find yourself a good tattooist, even if it means travelling for miles and miles, a good tattooist can turn a mediocre tattoo into an amazing one!

I have 8 tattoo's, 1 admittingly I regretted, so I got it lazered off. Despite what they say, tattoo's are not perm, remember that!
