what do you guys think
with america in debt trillions of dollars and the major powers in the world already vying for control of the last known oil reserves, is it not far off to say that within our lifetimes we will experience a major international crisis?

There isn't a specific time for a war. It could happen with all the tension in the world, and like Napstur said, read your sig.

this, along with americas debt and crippled international relations, makes me believe america will not have a happy future.



i did not state there was "a specific time for a war". i gave a few circumstances that may be precursors to major disasters/war

 

War is imminent for the new generation.

Unless the world finds alternate fuel energy sources, the next World War will probably be after 2030.

I don't see why a fuel crisis will lead to WWIII.

Why can't it be confined to a conflict between 2-3 nations at most. Like the US and Iraq previously.

 

Anything can happen at any time, if it did happen I would have the strong feeling it would be U.S versus world but hopefully this never happens. >_<

 

Yeah, a crisis called inflation. I could see room for a potential world war, but that's unpredictable when it could occur.

 

My theory:
Russia will try to gain technological, tactical, economical, nuclear, etc. advantages within our lifetimes. Russia will target weaker countries surrounding it, aka former soviet union, like Georgia (where I live) and like before in 2008 when Russia was attempting to storm into Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, neither US nor NATO did anything really to prevent this. They did not follow through with their plan, but I'm thinking Russia was just teasing in 2008, trying to test outcomes. TRussia will attempt this again or something similar in the near future.

Just my prediction though.

 

Though there are conflicts in other countries such as Libya and Iraq, I doubt it escalate to a world war as these are just rebel groups not and not entire nations uniting to fight. Therefore lacking the money to fund a full out war, guerrilla tactics is what they opt for.

I don't believe we'll ever see a "World War 3", the political implications of another World War would be insane. It most certainly won't be about fuel, either.. if it really came down to it, the US has enough oil on it's own to last us quite a while.. we just refuse to drill for it because of bullshit people like Obama trying to win the favor of voters.

Seriously, if we just pulled our heads out of everybody's ass and worried about our own growing issues rather than trying to fix everybody else's problems we could resolve almost every major conflict.

We pull out of the middle east - international relations improved
Start drilling for our own oil - more jobs, economy stimulated

etc.. I don't think things will get to the point of another major war anytime soon, the world is evolving beyond that.

what is stopping the other superpowers from invading america for its untapped oil supply?

According to many oil companies there are enough oil reserves to last us 45-50 years at least.. that's not even taking into account undiscovered oil (which there most certainly is) and the fact that the oil companies have everything to gain by lying about the amount of oil left (panic buyers, price increases, etc) I don't think we have too much to worry about in terms of running out of oil, there is PLENTY of time for new energy sources to be found. As long as the oil companies continue to make money they will bleed this planet dry of it's oil.. only then will they really make a stride in alternate energy.

Also, arguably the best military in the world is stopping others from invading the US for their oil.

I'm not saying there is absolutely no possibility of a "World War 3", I'm only saying that it would be a political nightmare and you most likely won't see it called that. Also, I'd like to think that the world is eventually going to come to a point where we realize that killing people/invading countries isn't the way to go about things. If you noticed, I said that if the US pulled it's head out of everybody else's ass we'd (the human race as a whole) be far better off.
