Were you offended by Obama's comments?

Barack Obama called one my my hometown sports radio station and started discussing race. Although I'm not white, I feel that he is in no place to make such comments, generalizing a race of people and deeming them all afraid of black people.

A summary of what he said that was offensive, is as follows:

Barack Obama suggested Thursday the "typical white person" - much like his grandma - fears black men on the street, prompting a quick backpedal from his aides, who conceded the senator's words may give the wrong impression.

After the comments made by his pastor, and now Obama's own comments, has anyone's views on Obama changed? Is anyone offended by his comments?

A black person on the street is more of a stereo type,

As like with Emo's not all of them cut themselves but are still classed as emo's.

There may be black people and the street and people can be scared of them but if there were white people doing the same thing it would have the same reaction.

Its a stereotype, so why risk standing in the street when it could be a gang members or it might be some priests.

I wasn't as offended by Obama's comments as his minister's. After the obvious racial slurs made by the minister, Obama said that he did not support that view, but still believes the minister is a man of God. Go figure.

Wow, I really wish I could say I thought you were being sarcastic.

in some ways, he might be offending people but you do have to realize, he is someone different and his view on many subjects is very "open". That is why him being president wouldnt be all to bad.

Then again, he rarely states any policies which he will uphold, he only sends inspirational little clips of video to the youth of America about improving the future but he never takes a stance on ANYTHING..

I concur. Not too found of Obama, but Hillary Clinton is just a stupid bitch, and John McCain is an anti-democratic moron.

But then again, I'm European, why should I care? =|

This is very true. It seems it's encouraged in their culture. They feel it's a right of passage. Of course, plenty of them are right in their accusing someone of racism.

I am in no way a racist, and I embrace diversity. I hate when people use diversity as a way to accuse or frame something.

As long as he doesn't make fun of blue dotted orange skinned people i'm cool with him.

Scientist have proven that there is only 1 human race, why should some always bring a racist debate on ?

Tactical voting is what reduced your political landscape to a 2-party travesty. Get out.

Of the choices represented, he was only stating his preference and his reason for doing so. I saw nothing wrong with his statement. Suppose you have a choice between Cheerios and Frosted Flakes, and you're allergic to Cheerios. It's only natural to choose Frosted Flakes if that is the lesser evil. Stupid example, but you get the gist of it.

My opinion of Obama has not changed, but then again, my opinions of him were already rock bottom in the first place. The issue here is he cannot attack Hillary and McCain at the same time on a real issue because he lacks experience to out debate them. So naturally he turns to the one thing he assumes he may get sympathy for, and of course that is his race. He is simply trying to make himself appear as the underdog in the election based solely on the fact that he is black. He probably didn't lose many supporters in doing so as he has already proved that most of the supporters are loyal and almost Cult-like. He took a political gamble just as every other politician does, including Clinton's sniper story, to gain a few more votes. It is not devastating to his candidacy, however it will be a pain in his ass for a few weeks. Have no fear Obama supporters, maybe Oprah will swing in and try to smooth things out for him.
