Trade Scam

1.


-As you can see the scammer offers you 6,004 Willow logs for 95k for a ridiculously low price. The victim agrees with this because it is more than too good to be true.




-The scammer takes away X amount of Willows logs and ends up with 604 instead. Be careful when trading players who tend to trade in an unbalanced amount.(i.e: 1000k--->10004, 250k---->2504.

Identical Items Scam



-The scammer says he is selling a Rune Pickaxe for 10k. Good deal isn't it? The victim puts up the 10k. The scammer swaps the Rune Pickaxe for a cheap one, such as an Iron Pickaxe.




- Should you get scammed, always check the 2nd trade screen before accepting!

"I g2g" scam:




-The scammer trades the victim. The victim offers the scammer an item that meets his/her's desire. The scammer offers an incredibly high price for the item. The scammer tells the victim he has to go to a Dentist appointment. The victim falls for the scam and look what happens...




-if you think you got scammed always check the 2nd trade screen! If you see the highlighted amount of money change, then press decline immediately!

"Mom being a bitch" scam



-This scam is almost the exact method as the "I g2g" scam, except it mentions their mother instead.
-Dont think this trade will go clean because you'll be having a great "deal" at the end.

"Main got hacked" scam



-Ok seriously, who would get fooled by this kind of scam? Well unfortunately some people do. If you are one of those unlucky ones, listen up so you won't get the same encounter again. If you do, chances are they are farmers who will look for easy money. If you give them the item, chances are they will block you and run away. Simple as that.

Duplicate Item Scam



Note: You CANNOT duplicate items in Runescape! EVER! Anyone claiming they can duplicate items are most likely trying to scam you!

Duplicate Item #2(Outdated)


Here is a text log of the scam:

Scammer: Hey want to know how to duplicate your items?
Victim: how do you duplicate them?
Scammer: Simple, just get your best item.
*Victim runs to West Varrock bank*
*Victim returns with a Rune Platebody(g)*
Scammer: Ok to duplicate them, drop your Rune Plate and press and hold Alt+F4.
*Victim intentionally logs out*
*Scammer picks up item and runs*

"Rainbow Fountain" Lure

Scammer: Hey want to make 1 mil without even getting an xp?
Victim: sure how do we do that?
Scammer: I heard Jagex made a new update. There is a Rainbow Fountain down in a dungeon. If you reach the end of the dungeon, a beautiful fairy appears and gives you 1mil.
Victim: Cool where is it?
Scammer: Just follow me I've been playing Runescape for 5 years I should know.
*Victim follows*
*Arriving at the dungeon of Mudskipper Point*
*Victim gets lured into Ice Warriors(Level-57) and dies with armor/items*
*Scammer picks up loot and logs off*

Demon's grief Lure

Scammer: hey want to get an easy 400k in a matter of minutes?
Victim: sure how?
Scammer: I heard there is a Greater Demon(Level-92) in the wild that is in need of a friend. If you talk to him(The victim is low level so the Demon will finish him off) he will give you 400k and says," Thank you adventurer, without you I may not survive a second longer."

"Cremation of the Gipsy" scam(Outdated_

Scammer: Hey want to make 200k in less than a minute?
Victim: sure how?
Scammer: First of all how much money do you have?
Victim: I have about 300k why?
Scammer: Well I heard Jagex updated the Gipsy in Varrock. She is growing old and may die of old age soon Can you believe only us 2 know it? Since you are my best friend I will tell you the secret. You must spend 100k on gold rings, and go around Runesape dropping Gold rings. Therefore, soothing her spirit and letting her rest in peace.
*Victim buys 100k worth of Gold Rings and starts dropping them around Runescape*
*Scammer logs out*



Note: Some scams may not work on you because of updates,but these are all the types of scams I remember. If I forget any post here and I can update them.

 

None of those would work, as there's a Trade Limit...

3/10- Purely for the way you organized it
Some good parts, some bad parts, alot of outdated pics though. Half the guide is outdated, and the other half doesnt even work. Other parts aren't scams at all. For example, losing an cut ruby to a player that says his account was hacked isnt really a scam. You lose like 800gp. The bit about the rune (g) platebody doesnt work, neither does the Duplication one work. If you are member and you have enough quest points for 25k+ trade margin, I dont think you will fall for a Duping glitch.
The part that's funny is the 100k ring thing, LOL
Otherwise, good organization, horrible guide

Sorry to tell you but this would not work.
Ok if you were buying 100 yews for 15k, if you have high qp.
But you couldn't pay like 95k for that many.

 

im not sure why you would make a guide on scams that happened back in the day, if we put this guide in a time machine and put it back when sythe just started, i would fit in at that time

Hah, yeah, extremely known scam back in the days when there was no trade limit, but, can still be done, I guess. Nice guide and hopefully it will keep some people away from being scammed or anything.

1. How can it still be done? No how! The trade limit doesn't allow you?

2. Sythe does not support phising, cracking, scamming, or anything illegal. So this is scamming. So please make sure to make the title for anti scamming and not the guide to scams as people would try and use this to scam others, but its impossible anymore due to trade limit.
