Preface: I'm going to seem to contradict myself, but you know, it's not my job to figure out how to do these things, hell, it's not even my job to let you guys know. I'll probably receive a flame or two telling me that exact thing, to "fuck off, it's not my job." Haha. Oh, and in advance, sorry for picking on your thread SMR.
1. The black market.
Are you guys daft in the head? You have 3, count them, 3 market mods (and Pen dabbles in there every so often). Why are stupid little internet fights more important than the $1,000+ that get scammed every day? Why not try to prevent scams instead of just banning (oh wow, like people will care they got banned with their free $200). This site is based on the black market, it fuels the site, it keeps the traffic coming, but it also keeps the whining coming. It keeps our reputation low and our draw from other sites low as well. Maybe you should stop fucking around with sigs that link to sythe.org (that will get, what? 5 people a day?) and start trying to improve the actual site. Make the black market something people look forward to selling/buying in, not making them decide to rather go to some shady site and buy from there. There really needs to be some priorities. Who cares if someone spammed in a thread about how much money you'd trust the person above you with if some little kid just lost $200+!
2. Middlemen.
First of all, the requirements to becoming a middleman are a freaking joke. I could make a brand spankin' new account today and probably have them done in no time. Go in the IRC a bit, be nice, find noobs who "need mm bad," and bam you are a trusted middleman. As far as I know, things shouldn't work that way. The trades can be easily faked and almost as easily done for real! Make the requirements actually tough. No repeat people in a trade, no bullshit "you need x amount of trades, I'll review you, and then you're done" (although I commend Steph for doing a damn fine job with such a bullshit method) . Go witness some trades once in a while, actually get to know them not see them in the IRC. This one I must say is one of the toughest things to fix, but with a little elbow grease and some real effort for once, it can be done.
3. The staff.
Just as middlemen, if you are liked, staff is much too easy to break into. But that isn't the main issue, the main issue is dealing with the already corrupt staff that is currently present. The sting operations were very good, but weren't really followed through with. As far as keylogging or RAT camming or whatever, that is of low integrity and shouldn't be done at all. But either way, there's staff leaking, not doing their job, and even, yes it's true, scamming (ohhhhhhh what a huge surprise) . (Here comes one of my contradictions.) I know I mentioned you need more market mods, but you need much less of the corrupt mods. Just because you like someone doesn't mean they are good in a staff position, hell, half the time it means they aren't. Weed out the weak.
3 side-point.
If a staff member gets keylogged/hacked, they're off staff. Simple as shit. If they refund the shit, they can be back on in a month or two, otherwise, tough luck for them.
4. The fluff.
Who cares if someone posted more than twice in some stupid thread about trusting random people with money, people are getting scammed! Divert your attention away from the useless bullshit or find some mindless drones who suck to much at life to do anything else to deal with that. Time shouldn't be wasted on whining children.
5. Trust.
Don't trust everyone you like. Don't trust everyone in a high position. Don't trust everyone who seems nice. Don't trust everyone that has done hundreds of trades before. Be smart. It's the internet, none of the truly trustworthy people really fucking care if you trust them.
And with that, I shall take my leave. I hope you listen to my advice, even though I know I'll be receiving a flame or two (or 57) from some of you. I may not have put it in the nicest terms, and it sure as hell isn't organized and is barely even coherent, but I just don't have time to fiddle to make it understandable to those youngins. Thanks for reading (if you didn't read all of it, fuck you) and thanks for the fun time. Good luck.
[P.S. If you haven't figured out who I am, haha.]
