How to Beat Event Match 50 on SSBM

Thought I'd make a guide on how to beat event match 50 on Super Smash Bros. Melee, even though almost nobody uses gamecube anymore. I've looked up guides, and they all used different methods than this. I started playing with my gamecube again a week ago, and this was by far the hardest event match I've ever done. Now, the guide.

    Character Selection:

I completed it on my 8th or 9th try, mostly because I was trying out a bunch of different characters. I finally found out great character to do this with, and, although I didn't think it'd be good, it was YOSHI.

    Select your good buddy Yoshi.

The reason Yoshi is good for this, is because his Down+A attack can do 45+ damage if executed properly, and he isn't super easy to kill like Jigglypuff or Kirby.

    Tactics:

There are a bunch of different ways you can approach this, but since there is 2 hands instead of 1, I'd say that its 3-4x harder, since Crazy Hand is a lot harder than master hand, and because of the fact that theres two of them. Some people will say, "Go for Crazy Hand first, get the harder one over with!". And then others will say "Go for Master Hand first. You'll have less damage then you would if you fought Crazy Hand first, so you have more of a chance to win." The second opinion is the method I used. I only had 35-40% damage when I killed Master Hand, and about 70 when I killed Crazy Hand. When theres only one, whether it be the hardest or easiest one, it's a lot easier, so it was pretty simple to dodge most of Crazy Hands attacks and kill him too.

    DONT'S!

    • Don't jump twice before using Down+A. It gives them more chances to hit you, and you won't do as much damage when using Down+A.
    • Don't always use your R button shield to protect yourself. Use the shield you get after pressing Z sometimes, because its bigger and harder to break through
    • When using your R shield, don't just stand there and get hit, because the shield will eventually break. Move your joystick left or right when you're about to be attacked, and you'll avoid it most of the time

**Keep in mind that pressing the R button in the air will dodge attacks for a second or two. In this stage, it'll be your best friend.

The best opportunity you can possibly get in this level is when the hand your attacking is using the lasers. Its easy to avoid, and you can get in 2-4 Down+A attacks, depending on how fast you are.

Other than that, I hope this helps, and remember to stick by the 'Donts' part of this guide. It'll help you. I know this isnt an overly long guide, but there really isn't much to say except this.
