Looks, quality. Usually cheaper ear buds blow out when you pass a certain volume point.

Some have that price because the company decided to compete Dr. Dre's 'Beats by Dre'. These headphones/buds wear made for in-studio. They usually won't wear out unless you do something extreme with them.

And the brand name. People will pay just for the brand name.

Your feeble, uneducated ears are unworthy... incapable of appreciating superior sound

I have a $3 pair of ipod headphone knockoffs, and frankly I can't tell a difference between them and a friend of mine's $100 pair.

I'm not really a musical person, though.

Brands and hypes make the price skyrocket :/

How many ears do you have...?

But yeah, that's my reasoning too. I generally lose them long before they die on me, so I can't justify anything more expensive for little benefit.

Listen to high-fidelity versions of the music you enjoy. Pay attention to subtleties in sound. Hear each instrument individually.

I personally find the more expensive ones last longer. I've gotten $2 ones before and I'm very lucky if they last a month. When I got Apple ones, they lasted around 7-8 months.

The expensive ones are more durable, thus lasting longer. They're also usually more attractive and all. If you're not very careful with your stuff, I'd suggest not buying those expensive ones as you'll probably end up wrecking it.

I always live by this code: Cheap things don't come good. Good things don't come cheap.

I wouldn't pay more then $20 for earphones.

I usually buy the JVC Gummy ones, usually around $10-20.

    Good overall.

durability.. sound quality depends on music as some earphones have better base..

    This is a common sense.

well i don't see the need to buy $120 earphones, my friend has a pair of $200 ones and my $45 ones are just as good as his. You just need the in-ear ones that are around $20 - $40 (Don't buy apple ones, they suck)

I buy 10$ earbuds that have the best bass out of any headphones i've used. People ask all the time when they hear the bass these shits provide on a nice ass beat. Gotta love sony, they always last for a year and half as well, bought them 3 times... always die out after a year and half.
