    Ocd?

Hey guys i have some questions about OCD because i am pretty sure i have it. First of all i know this will sound completely wierd but the X sign on the side of the computer screen that closes clients and such, i usually press it and drag the mouse away so the thing doesn't close down. I know this sounds really wierd but i can usually do this 7-8 times in a row everytime i do something on the computer and it can happend on numerous occasions.

Whenever i lock a door i try to push and open up the door 2-3 times before i go away.

can usually tie my shoe laces 4-5 times in a row even if it's already perfect i just feel a urge to do it.

I don't know if this actually is OCD but does anyone possibly have an explaination for this?

You could probably set a test up pretty easily if you just ask your doctor, apparently the test they use to measure it is actually pretty cool. As for an explanation, maybe you just get annoyed by those certain things, or you just have OCD, which isn't that big a deal now-a-days anyway with the medication they can give you.

I wouldn't say this is fully blown OCD, as for some of the repetitive actions you have stated, you seem to retain a level of choice over doing them.

If you are concerned about it, speak to your GP. However it may just be a phase that you will grow out of, as this doesn't sound like OCD as of yet.

The medication isn't that serious, I remember my friend had to take them growing up, it was sort of just taking a daily vitamin.

That's Normal, I do that to make sure the door is locked correctly for safety reasons.

Your best bet is to go see your doctor and discuss this type of thing with him. Most likely he will refer you to a psychiatrist. The psychiatrist will probably prescribe some form of medication that will hopefully help! The biggest thing you want to do is talk to your doctor about it!

If its not some huge ritualistic tic or getting worse id steer clear of doctors on the matter. I have some odd tendencies some may consider a little ocd but ive just grown to accept them as quirks. If its not a hinderance or affecting your quality of life i fear over analysation and or drugs will just be a wasted attempt to fix what isnt broke that may do more harm than good.

I don't see why you would suggest someone to not see a doctor. If the visit produces results that you don't find satisfactory then you can just either not take the medication or stop seeing the doctor. However, it is still possible that maybe it does help. Seeking out all possible solutions is a lot better than being close minded.

I think most people either have or have had an OCD-type habit.

Ask yourself this; do you worry and/or panic about germs and things being unclean? Do you worry about bad things happening if you don't tie your shoe laces again or press the X button? Do you avoid certain things because they represent something bad in your mind?

Those are some key signs that you have serious OCD, if your habits aren't hindering your life then it's not really necessary that you consult a doctor - some people just have little things they do.

    Ocd?

When I was younger, I had mild OCD. It didn't impact my life too significantly, just a bit of wasted time really. Also, since then, it has greatly diminished for me. For me it was different than what you described, but were the same sort of thing.

If I were you, I'd take this: http://psychcentral.com/ocdquiz.htm and go to a doctor if it says to.
