The Official Combat Beta Thread

Does anyone know when the combat update is expected to go live?

 

They said September but I don’t think they have released an exact date. I’m guessing they will tell us in next months behind the scenes update.

Usually when they don't release am exact date it means they are behind schedule. I'll just assume it isn't coming in September

 

I read somewhere on the forums that the release is anticipated for September sometime, but that Jagex is willing to extend the BETA period for however long it takes to work out all the major problems, respond to player feedback, make changes and sort out the bugs, etc.

I hope that they really mean this, because at least in that case the BETA will be as good as it can possibly be before they make it live.

 

I'm hoping that they'll post an update with beta being EXACTLY as the update before they let it go live.. that way we can at least tell everyone who doesn't have access and give early feedback

 

Will pures be non existent with this update or what?

 

1 Defence pures should be expected to be beyond bad. I imagine zerkers will be the only type of low defence pure worth having.
But EoC = Home of the main.

 

The EoC is certainly geared towards main accounts, and you are greatly encouraged to train your defence. I have heard that pures are not necessarily going to become obsolete, and that despite the LP disadvantage, they may still have their uses.

Can anybody who actually owns/plays on a pure confirm exactly what combat on a pure is like in the EoC?

Pures will be far from dead in the EoC. As it stands currently, most of the time pures will end up fighting other pures. In the EoC, defense gives an advantage now. If a pure fights another pure, neither of them will have that advantage so it will be a level playing field, like it is currently. Of course there will be some minor changes, such as the way you fight being revamped but pures fighting amongst themselves will still be very prominent in PvP.

 

You'll probably find 1 def pures will only be really able to fight other accounts with 1 defence.

 

The most likely date would be in the end of September, as surely they want to give the month's enormous XP lamp as something that'll "soften the blow" or please the disgruntled.

 

I think they'd have put more information in the Behind the Scenes if they were releasing it this month...

 

Is that how it works? They need to say it there if it's going to happen? I honestly don't play enough anymore to know--to me it would like a wise way to do it. And if they fail to meet the (phantom) deadline, as they consistenly did in the past, people will not complain so much.

 

They obviously don't need to, but that's just what they do these days. They have a behind the scenes article than they release sneak peak images of what the weeks updates are going to be - which are easy to guess because we've seen the Behind the Scenes for the month. It's ruined most of the surprised and excitement from updates :/

 

Yeah Jagex loves to gloat about banning botters to re-assure the legitimate players that Jagex cares about them a little bit. If they were to post some sneak peak images of what the nuke would be though, I wonder what it would be like. Perhaps Sorcerers Garden or Yew Trees vacant? haha :laugh:

 

Yeah they do, I think they have some concept art in the latest Behind the Scenes video (I think I read that somewhere.) I assume it'd be the same about the gloating for the Evolution of Combat, they do seem very proud of it.

 

so ive read extensively in the forums that prayer and herblore are essentially nerfed with turm only adding 2-3% to your max hit as opposed to the 30-40% it gives now ... im training prayer up on this old failed main i have and wondering what i should do .. ill be left with a bank >20m after doing this so its kinda big concern for me. I feel that with all the player feedback they couldnt possibly make prayer and herblore this insignificant now right ?! I mean they are such expensive skills to train and help so much currently i cant really imagine them leaving it like it is in the beta (totally weak) what are your thoughts on this ?

 

Does anyone know if having a higher Prayer or Herblore level opens up new abilities or whatever they're called again? If they do, and they're any good, they may still be worth training.

 

What will happen to turmoil pures?
