Who do you think was/is the greatest movie director of all time?

I'm hoping for some real movie fanatics to step up to the plate in this thread, and some light banter to be exchanged :)
For me, personally the greatest movie director of all time has to be Quentin Tarrantino, not only does he deal with serious issues, he does so in a light-hearted manner with a touch of black comedy. Also most of his movies don't unfold chronologically, Pulp Fiction being the best example.

So, Post your choice and the reason for your choice :)

    I must say I <3 Constantine, but I thought I am legend was...ok.

Those are awesome films, but because he is an awesome director? Or because of the big budget?

I guess I'll go for Quentin Tarantino too, I love how well he develops his characters, and Kill Bill is one of my favorite movies

I'll have to go with Spielberg, there isn't a movie he's done that hasn't been amazing to be honest.

Who do you think was/is the greatest movie director of all time?

Yeah it's a very indie-like movie as opposed to mainstream. At least now you can say you've watched it :)

Who do you think was/is the greatest movie director of all time?

I guess so, the whole story was kind of slow to me. I don't know I guess my expectations were a little high.

Who do you think was/is the greatest movie director of all time?

Frank Darabont. He's only made two great films (The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile), but they really are AMAZING films. The best films. Ever. No doubt. Truly powerful stuff. I'll openly admit that I cried during a particular scene in The Green Mile, the first time I ever cried over a movie / any video (and so far the only time), and the first time I'd cried at all for quite a long time.

Spielberg is decent - his films range from The Terminal, which was downright awful, to Schindler's List, which was excellent in some scenes but only down to the acting and the story, which of course wasn't written by Spielberg, considering it's (mostly) true.

I have to say that I greatly dislike Tarantino and his movies. Mindless action is not for me.
