The new Ipad

Apple just released the third iPad. Seems to me its just a iPad 2 with 4G and a slightly better screen and camera for a lot more money if you want the 4G one...

Thoughts?

 

apple is running out of ideas... they use to be so innovative, now they are just keep making newer versions of their products.

 

I feel about the same way. I feel like the last truly innovative thing Apple did was create the Iphone. Other than that, everything to me just seems so overpriced and sub par..

 

That's what they do, the release a piece of shit, and then upgrades for it calling it the next generation iSomething.

Like, they couldn't have put 16gb of ram in it to start? or a bigger hd from the beginning?

Killer Dank said what I missed, they basically use marketing plans to scam retarded ignorant people that knows shit about computers into thinking is the next generation phone/pad/computer.
Is sad that apple is able to rip of so many little kids and ignorant teens with their sucky overpriced machines. Whenever I try to convince my friends they think only nerds cares.

 

You can't say they completely fail, however. They did a very good job on the software for their devices. That doesn't mean they aren't ripping everybody off, but you can't say they are horrible either.

As for the iPad 3, I think that they could have done a much better job with something really new. I think 2012-4 will really be a kinda quiet time without anything really new in the works

 

I agree, thats why I didn't mention their OS, which is very innovative.

 

Just to clarify...

 

Their marketing strategy is how when they release a new version of a product, people would want it so they won't get left behind. It's overpriced, but it gives people the opportunity to show it off.

They started off great with a whole different strategy which was to create something new and different, but they slowly changed it to something else.

 

Right. The new iPhone and the new iPad have nothing new. They make the old device slightly better but its nothing innovative. And yet, people still flock to the stores to buy the lasted and greatest (by a very slim margin).

Apple has probably already developed like the iphone 7, but they wait off until they sell it to make the most money possible.

 

This is all true - but Apple's competitors aren't much better with tablets. Waiting to see how win8 tab pans out.

The funny part is *a certain network provider* is the only 4g provider here in Australia, and the device can't connect to this network, rendering the 4g useless. Doubt it will make as many sales down here! (apart from the fanboys and hipsters "pff 4g? i still use 1g because i'm so underground ")

Update: The demand for the new iPad is MASSIVE, like most Apple product launches. There is also a massive uptick in people selling iPad 2s, mainly to upgrade (upgrade to a barely better product...) so if you want an iPad 2, you can get one fairly cheap.

 

Even if you have 4G, not all countries support it.

 

Yes, 4G is not supported in many countries.
They are really running out of ideas and just releasing the version upgrades.

I assume the innovation you're referring to is their revolutionization of the music industry with the iPod. In which case, it's been what apple has been building upon and updating with newer versions for years and years and years. They've only had two major innovations: the Macintosh and the iPod. Everything since has been an update of these two products. Even the iPhone is just an update of the iPod. Same thing, except with phoning capabilities.


I don't have 4G in my area so it'd be a MAJOR waste of money if I ever wanted to waste any money at all on an iPad.

At flyingcolors, you can bet-- being the control freak Steve Jobs was-- that he has patents and plans and instructions for the company to last apple the next 20 years as far as their new products. So the iPad 3 and probably an "iPad 6" was approved by him before he died.. Or at least before he gave up running the company. Years before his death, his illness probably had him too weak and sickly to solely run Apple

At noamyoungerm, the iPad has flash and java now too I believe. Flash for sure, at least.

 

they're all the same thing with slight touch ups, but make new ones for more money, its obvious.

 

Steve was insane. He told his engineers that one of the early mac laptops was not good enough because chips inside the sealed case were not pretty enough. >_>

Regardless, the business model they have is working because they have so many religiously devoted fans. While they have that, they just need to keep coming out with the same products with slight updates.
