The Existence of God

If we conceive of a thing, such as God, a teapot, or a book, it either exists, or it doesn't. The two valid, rational ways of determining whether or not it does are experience and reason. Now, choosing to believe in something because it's comforting falls under neither of those categories (as I've said many a time, "X is comforting" does not imply that "X is true"). However, your way is literally irrational. To a rational person such as yourself, how can you be content to hold one irrational belief?

 

I feel there is no argument for something that is someones opinion so no offense this thread would go nowhere.. Unless you think this is fun.. I honestly don't.

I don't mind living my life believing in God and seeing in the end there isnt..
What is so hard about that..
Even if there is no God. We should all follow in some of the things taught in the book..
10 commandments etc..Lust blah blah

Being christan is a choice. You people are fighting over nothing. I also agree with darkbow k0 u. I belive in god. I always will, and nothing could ever change that. Why dont you people? Does the thought of a stronger power bother you? Do you think the thought of an all mighty being is to much? Oh well, if you dont belive, I cant help you.

Humans are inherently rational. It is not so difficult to weed out an irrational belief, expose it for what it truly is, and convince the other person to change their view.

If you're deciding right now that you will hold the existence of God as an axiomatic truth, and interpret all evidence in favor of this position, then you admit to being irrational, and thus bow out of the debate.

Why don't I believe? I have not seen any evidence.

Well you sir, just like many others in this thread, have posted a completely useless statement. Why do you believe in God? How on earth does not believing in God make me or anyone else "mentally retarded"? Last time I checked, I rank in the top 2% of my class so I hardly consider myself retarded. You sir, however, have grammar errors EVERYWHERE, and obviously don't know the rules to having a proper debate.

If you can't post something without evidence to support your claim, don't post you noob.

I don't believe in Christian God stated out like many Christians in these topic because there are enough reasons for me not to believe in one.
I have read the Bible and it just isn't the truth.
In my opinion the sole reason people believe in a God because they a fear what will come after death. Without enough evidence they pressume there is a hell and do anything stated in the Bible. Becoming a slave of it.

No, an angel didn't come crashing through my roof saying god exists. You can't call people mentally "retarted" because they don't believe in god. That shows your ignorance and tolerance towards people.

 

seriously. i dont believe in god, never will either. There is no evidence that he even exists. dont say the bible is cuz i could write a book about some random bieng saying that the book is proof he exists... there is alot of suffering in the world and i dont see god working his magic anywhere.. Along with that everything in life is based off of real things. any thing that u thnk god does like heal someone when they are sick or learn to talk when they are deaf is based off of science and what everything in the world is capeable of, not some supernatural being who people use as a coushin to hide themselves from the realities of the world.

Morality is subjective and generally comes from the culture and society you grow up in. An Atheist can be just as morally as a priest. (not the priests whom puts their hands down some innocent childs pants, mind you)

if i had a gun next to my head then i wouldnt believe that. when something bad happens in my life i know that its part of life. god doesnt and wont decide my path for me, i will. and b1b i have morals and im not religious. in fact ive never drank or done drugs and im 17. never smoked either. i may swear alot but thats it. so dont go thinking that because shredder is not christian and is saying your beliefs are wrong that he is imoral or without morality.

 

morals, religious people dont have morals, they just have fear of hell, fear of god, they dont care about other people, they just care about pleasing there god.
