Yea, there could be a santa claus. . .I'm going to say the same thing I said in my last post, there could be a santa claus he just might not take the form we imagine him to take.

He doesn't necessarily have to deliver gifts, he could do something else.

Although I do lean toward the disbelief side of Mr. Claus.

Its called believing, I know for a fact you have never seen 1 billion dollars in real life before. You may have seen it in pictures, movies, ect. But just because you believe in it, you think its real, you need no evidence, no one to tell you its real, you just believe. Same goes with God, you have no evidence your just going on belief. But anyways, if you believe in God and you die and there is no god, what have you lost? Maybe a few months of your whole life? But if you don't believe in God, and you die and there is one, then what? You get to spend eternity in a literal hell?

    Third option:
If you believe in a god, and you die and it was the wrong one, you have wasted much of your life making an ass of yourself and you get to spend eternity in a literal hell (or whatever damnation is the correct one).

With all the religions and different branches of religions in the world, it's like playing the lottery really. Except the whole lottery is most probably a scam and there is no prize.

There is evidence to support the existence of $1 billion. There is none to support the existence of God.

Pascal's Wager rests upon two basic assumptions:

1). God will reward cowardly bet-hedging.

2). You can change your core beliefs.

I severely doubt both of those.

I'm with Shredderbeam with all this... You all believe that when something good happens to you that god had this planned for you, and more to come, but what about when the bad things happens? Where is he during all the bad events? Leaving you out to dry?

    How about killer's?
"God has our fate planned out for us"
What about in cases of drunk driving. A drunk driver hit's an innocent person, kills that person and is still alive, with the same impact as the other victim? God allows the foolish person who went out, got drunk, and decided to drive the opportunity to live, but not the woman, or man, who lives his life pure, goes to church every time there is a session, prays everyday, during ever meal, every event and any opportunity that they get to. What about that? And what are you going to say now... O, it was his or her fate, I'm sure GOD has plenty of backup that he doesn't need one more person.

This is explained by free will, God has a plan but it's any man's right to do whatever he likes. So bad things are easily ignored, while good things are still God's doing and not a result of free will.

I see your point of course, and I agree, but that doesn't really go against their beliefs.

Of course you do. Why would you believe anything without evidence, unless it was inherently obvious?

I myself am atheist and i would like to get in on this debate :p

I have been really thinking about this over the years and personally come to a conclusion that there is no god for many reasons.

There is no proof what so ever of a god today. If someone talks about god or crap like god has a plan for all of us i find it just as rediculas as if someone were to say they can fly.

Most people say they believe in god but they only do so because thats what everybody else does. People go to church but thats only because everyone else does. THey dont really "mean" or do it because they truly want to (not always the case but usually is).

When a priest came to my class a could years ago when i was in highschool someone asked him how he knew there was a god. His answer was "faith". I laughed at this considering this was the most common argument that is put up by people that believe in it. I laugh at this argument because it prooves nothing. Its just a circular argument.

And as you guys are talking above, funny how we dont see any miracles in the present day ... lol

Our miracles today are "that child survived the fall, its a miracle" ...

I do not believe in god, as there is no proof of his existence. Why believe in something that is not there?

Then again, the guy was roaming in the desert for days on end. Heatstroke anyone? Who's to say he received them from anyone? Hallucinations ftw.

Common sense*** is to believe ancient people from thousands of years ago?...

    Perfectly daid.

There's intelligence, and being able to back up your position. Call 'im what you'd like.

Well, Agnostic meaning you don't believe in a god, but you do believe there is something greater. (At least to my knowledge) So, If he tweaked his post, you could say he's agnostic.

I do not believe in a god. And about how atoms and such were created, and everything else, originated from the Big Bang, and you may say "well what made the Big Bang? God no doubt." Well then what made god? How did he come into existance? He made himself? What was before that? There's way more evidense to support the Big Bang than there is that god just came into the universe and decided to make earth along with everything else.

What evidense do you have that when you die you stay concious and have thoughts, feelings, etc. and that there is a heaven and/or a hell?
