    The Existence of God

Then leave this thread. this is a debate, not a childish argument where you don't even listen to what everyone else is saying. atleast admit to defeat, you have no arguement and you have just proven it.

I find it very strange how people can believe in something so strong even tho all the evidence is against them. all you have to do is start asking questions like the ones i did, and youl realise how stupid it all sounds.

You dont "know" theres a god, you think.

Also, you have been told 100 times that things that dont exist do not produce evidence of there no existance.

You keep saying you have proof yet you dont post any? if there was proof of allah then everyone would believe in it, there woudlnt be 500 different religions. the fact that there is so many that say the exact same thing as you shows that there all fake.

    coward?

well if there is a god we wont go to hell for not believing. God gave us common sense right? well everything about god goes against this, and therefor is not my fault for not believing.

What sort of god sends people to hell for not believing? yet he loves us all? So i could be the nicest person yet il go to hell for not believing in a fairy tale? cmon dude think outside the box.

    Thank you Mr. Finn.

Pascal's Wager is ultimately inconclusive. You cannot really delude yourself into believing. Even if you could, it would still be a lie, one that a God would doubtless see through - unless you think that you can fool God?

It's an interesting story, sure, and a good read, but it doesn't amaze me. That would imply that I would be astonished, shocked, thrilled, etc.

    The Existence of God

Yes i do beleive in God ..
But it depends on what faith you have and the country you live in.
For example australia is run on a christian based society.
Altho mulitcultural. which means christian schools over run everything.
People beleive in differantt things.. we werent just PUT here for no reason.
it also impacts on the family you grew up in...
mainly the faith you have.. everyone beleives in differant things..
im christian myself, and my faith relies on how i live my life.
my faith tells me whats right/wrong, so does the church .. and the law.
please dont say! no god doesnt exist .. no one knows thats why u gutta have faith..
thx.. and btw threads like this are gay.. all you get is stupid remarks from 10 yearolds.

Faith is irrational. What rational reason do you have for believing that God exists?

    The Existence of God

It's seriously depressing that so many people believe that there is a god.

You may believe that you need a controlling force in your life that is out of your hands, someone to make your decisions for you.
This doesn't mean that there is a god.

Chemical chance makes me so much more happy than putting everything down to an unseen force. Sometimes I am totally baffled when I try to think about the complexity of everything.

Surely the fact that more than one religion has been created suggests that it is totally ficticious.. all of it. I'm sorry if this offends anyone, this is just how I feel. The fact that modern religions are being created, and are equally as exploitative as they have always been *cough* scientology *cough*, praying on people's lack of understanding and their insecurities by telling them that they have the answer if they join them. I could create a religion tomorrow, swear blind that it is the truth, and that I had received a message from the god of my religion.

Then I could make my own rules, have my own army of blind believers.
    Who wants to join?

What separates a cult from a religion? More people, and how long it has been established for.

    The Existence of God

There's plenty of evidence, its your choice if you believe or not. The Bible, who created Earth, who created us. What I think is ridiculous is how people could think they just puffed with everything set.

    The Existence of God

Political correctness seperates cults from religions. If like 20 people followed a whole new religion (also based on blind, irrational faith) it would be called a cult, but if you call Christianity - a religion with over 4 billion followers - you're gonna get a lot of pissed off christians, because of course they are right and everyone else is wrong. People tend to associate cults with small societies isolated from the real world, and Christianity is definitely not one of those, so it's not really a cult.

There's a lot of Christian cults though, I like to point fingers and laugh the Jehovah's Witnesses because they have over 200 failed doomsday prophecies the last 150 years, and they STILL believe the world is close to an end.

No, believing is not a choice. It works like this: either you believe, you are unsure, or you don't believe. Theism, Agnosticism, Atheism. There may be different levels of how deep one believe, but no in-betweens. If you 'choose' to believe, you're manipulating your true beliefs. Read Pascal's Wager.
