    The Existence of God

I personally strongly believe in God, although i may not go to church, i pray often, and try to live the best way i can.

There are some things that kind of concern me with religion though, and i have talked to many other religious/non-religious people about... they are primarily people are genuinely good, yet they are eternally damned because they were misinformed by religion? its just kind of hard for me to get over.

Also, for the people who do not believe, trust me. im not judging people on it. everyone has their own personal beliefs, thats what makes you yourself <3.

But there is something i like to pitch in that i was thinking about in science class today while i should have been taking my test.......
If the big bang theory/all other evolution theory's are true, that disproves God how? There has to be a beginning, from all i have read about evolution of organisms, as well as the universe, comes from something else.... so who is to say God did not create the thing that caused the evolution of something? <----- don't take that as solid word, that's just as i have been thinking, I'm sure its possible that I've made some mistakes in my idea of that theory or whatever its called =P

No-one has said that a god or deity didn't cause this, but there is no evidence to support it either.

This is the problem. It is impossible to disprove God because the theory that God exists is so vague it can be bent and twisted to fit anything.

    That doesn't prove it's true.

Dying is one thing, but are you prepared to face eternal damnation and everlasting torment if it turns out to be wrong?

People sin, make mistakes, ask for forgiveness. But does anyone actually seem to make an effort and improve, learn from past mistakes? No, not really. Something tells me even Yahweh would disapprove of the common Christian.

Following or not is not necessarily an option. I never chose to be an atheist, logic simply tells me its most likely the true direction. Also, I've done research since I became interested in the whole debate when I was 13, so roughly 5 years of weekly research.

I wasn't talking about you in particular; I don't know anything about you - I was talking about Christians in general.

I didn't vote on the poll, but I have really mixed feelings about this.

I think a lot of religions have it wrong, but I don't believe in things like the "Big Bang Theory", I'm caught somewhere in between. I would call myself an atheist, but I'm not strongly against there ever being a "God" or "higher force" rather... Thanks for the talk :)

There is quite an amount of evidence to support the Big Bang theory. Why do you not believe in it?

To be honest, I haven't looked into it enough to believe in it. I'll try to do some research tonight on it :p

The matter was already there.... It was all just super compacted.... It could have been caused by many things... Even by its own gravity.

Lets turn that question around. Where did God come from? How did God come to existing?

Have you ever questioned yourself on how it got there?
Saying it was already there isn't an answer.

Did I say that? I'm not gonna parade around with the Big Bang Banner. But don't try to question it with something you can't explain any better.

I do question myself on that, and that is a question that cant be answered.
Neither can the big bang theory so this thread is pointless and needs to be locked.

This thread cant change around what a person believes.
If a person believes something its not something people on a website should care about or discuses.
These questions cant be answered. period.

Well if you say God doesn't exist. Thats your belief, why do you try to make other people "lose hope"?

Because I don't like how some people leech off society by spreading false beliefs. I.e. organized religion.

That may or may not be true, but that doesn't change the facts. Who pays for new churches? Priest salaries? Maintenance of said churches? You and me do.

It's a pretty big mystery. I don't think people can really back up any side of their argument more than the other guy.
