Sure, blame everything on that god, easy way out isn't it?
You have your own choice and your own opinion, you decide what to do with your life and what to believe.

Hang on, how does that actually refute evolutionary theory? You're basically saying "This belief makes me feel bad, therefore it is false".

Actually, this is the debate forum, not the opinion forum.

My point is that there are infinite possible Gods - so if Pascal's Wager is the only thing you are going by, you are virtually certain to pick the wrong one.

Anyway, would God value honest skepticism or faked belief?

I don't believe in false beings. I like to follow science. If it's not proven it does not exists. Or if you can't Rule 34 it -4chan joke, don't ask if you don't know. Besides the whole religion ideal to me is just idiotic.

You pray for better things but if they don't happen it's cause it's Gods plan witch in part makes praying worthless.

Do I believe in a God? Yeah.

Technically, I'm Muslim. But in ideology, I'm a deist. I can't imagine why God could allow such inhospitable suffering, so I choose to believe that god is Willing AND Able, he's just not interfering.

I believe in God because of physics. The 10th dimension? That's God.

Why doesn't he interfere? Because God exists outside of time, I.E. the 10th dimension. Not the 4th, the 7th, but the 10th. Of all the possible timelines in all the possible universes of all the possible orientations.

Why interfere in one when it's already existent in another?

The existence of a theoretical 10th dimension...how does that prove the existence of a deity?

Well I assume he'd interfere because he's willing, as you said above.

    The Existence of God

I think god was created by people back in the old times that just wanted to lift there children spirits by telling them old folk story's and time after time they got recorded and then people started to just believe it and it just became something for people to have hope in. i don't know. That's just my theory of it.

    The Existence of God

Not a deity in the sense of Jehovah or Yahweh. But the supreme state of being. The fabric that holds the dimensions together.

As for the second part, I misspoke. Too focused on Epistles' quote and not enough on what I was trying to say. Let me rephrase. What I meant to say was that there's no point in interfering. There's an infinite amount of universes with you and me in them. There's an infinite amount with you and me nonexisting. What's one universe where some people are unhappy when in another they're happy beyond measure? It's not God's JOB to ensure that we're happy, that life is FAIR. It's OUR job as PEOPLE to ensure that we help each other. Or not. It's our choice.

God as the clockmaker means that God is apathetic. We're about as important as one grain of sand in the desert. Why care about one?

If it's just the supreme state of being, fair enough, but you are then being misleading by labeling it "God". God specifically refers to an intelligent deity.

    Ah, ok, I see.

    The Existence of God

Shredder and others, i respect your decision not to belive but one question.....can design exsist without a designer? If not, then how does the universe exsist without a designer (God). If you take a quick look around you, you will see design. eg, the earth is exactly the right distance from the sun to sustain life, plants use photosynthesis to convert the suns energy to chemical energy. All organisms are accutely designed to fit in with one another and the earth and universe contain order and law naturally. Beliving that the universe was created by an explosion is almost as rediculous as somone seeing a hut on a beach and beliving that it was accidently created by the wind blowing the straw and mud toghther. Another point, how come humans are the only oraganisms to evolve to a stage where we have a consience (that is if the big bang theory is true). Why is it that a child will know exactly what is right and wrong just by "feelings". You cannot say that a child can just walk upto another child and punch them in the face and feel no remorse. Coming from a humanists point of veiw, anything is right if you think it is right in your own opinion and in that case in a pedofiles opinion is that having sex with a 3 year old is right. If this is true then why did people even bother inventing law, maybe it was becuase inside them their consience was telling them that what they were doing was infact wrong and they needed to implicate law and order.

P.S: How's that for logically evaluating my own beliefs?

EDIT: If God is not real then explain why love exists?

    The Existence of God

    Well that's simple enough.

The big bang took place billions of years ago. Over that period of time, anything can happen.

How is it that the earth is so perfectly suited for life? Well, considering that the universe is almost literally INFINITE, with an INFINITE number of planets, inside an infinite number of solar systems, inside an infinite number of galaxies, even if the chances were .0000000000000000000000001 of a planet being able to give birth to life, when you multiply .00000000000000000001 by infinity, you get a 100% chance. Fact.

Why do human beings have a conscience? Because evolutionarily, Humans are not suited for living by themselves. They hunted and they hunted in tribes. If you piss off your tribe and they kick you out, you're dead. You depended on your tribe, and your tribe depended on you.

So yeah, you don't just randomly punch people in the face. Unless they're part of another tribe. You want to explain to me why the Indian tribes down in south america feel it's necessary to put their hands in gloves made out of ants that have the stinging force the power of a bullet? Oh, God told them to do it? Be real. Society dictates what's "right" and "wrong".

And why do we have society? Because after hunter/gatherer stages we became farmers. Take a look at the indus river valley, or even ancient mesopotamia? People couldn't farm if other people were able to just go up to them and steal their stuff. They needed laws to ensure that they lived in a fair society.

And love exists solely for the purpose of reproduction, buddy. Sexual attraction gets you to mate with them, and "love" gets you to stay with them long enough to raise the baby. Human babies aren't capable of raising themselves and need that bond between the mother and the father to keep them there.

So yeah, just because you don't understand things, doesn't mean you can explain it all away with "God". It's easier, but it's not as right.

    The Existence of God

Love exists because different chemicals react in your brain to make you feel different emotions.

You probably haven't taken highschool biology ...

As for your previous assertions, I don't think you're accepting the big picture here. We theorize based on inconclusive evidence (heck, it is doubtful that conclusive evidence will ever be found) of what we know about the universe. We DON'T know how the universe came to be as it is today, therefore we theorize. It is better to say "I don't know therefore I theorize based on logic and reason" than to say "I don't know therefore God did it", which is known as the Argument ad Ignoratum, or Argument from Ignorance. You can't just pass off everything with the words "God did it" because to make a positive assertion you require evidence. We have evidence of the evolutionary theory; it is not 100% correct and we do not have CONCLUSIVE evidence, but we have enough evidence to say with confidence that it is truth. Because you are making the positive assertion that God exists, you must back up your own claim. If you cannot provide evidence for your assertion, then your entire argument is seen as irrational and false until you CAN provide evidence. So much for backing up your beliefs logically, huh?

And do not try to make another ignorant question or argument - Not believing in God is a lack of belief. Only fools assert that "God does not exist" because as stated, a positive argument requires evidence, and to provide evidence of a non-existent entity is impossible and logically incorrect in the first place. I can safely say "I don't know that God exists, but I believe he doesn't due to the fact that there is no evidence of him existing." I do NOT say "God does not exist." What you are saying is "God DOES exist." Therefore you need to provide evidence to explain why, or forever hold your peace.

    - Anthropic principle.
    - Evolution.
    - Morality is not based on Theism.
    - Our conscience has an evolutionary past.
    - Love is a mental chemical state.

Sigh...I don't have the time to run through every single fallacious argument you just made...but luckily, others above did just that.

Why do you believe in God?

    The Existence of God

God is a creation of man. Mankind has been afraid of what they do not know, it is a mystery and therefore a threat. God was created so the fears of death were nearly eliminated, fears of what is to come were eliminated. God was the creation of man so he could then better himself by having no fears.
