Is now a home away from home for me,

It's a website I started to just express my passion for reading interesting articles on the internet; and now it's begun to expand into something more than just that. It's now a small community.

I want to further grow this beautiful community and would like to have this thread to keep track of the progress; and would like opinions from all of you lovely people in regards to how I can grow this beautiful website!

Checked it out, found the Tila Tequila article quite interested, it looks very professional. Do you get a lot of traffic on it?

I understand the site has articles & such along with a community presence, but what would make a user prefer to use your site over, for example, buzzfeed?

As of right now it's getting 700-1000 unique views per day, but that's fairly small; im looking to have at least 5000+, i need to advertise somehow :/

Well buzzfeed is more along the lines for celeberty based/trending posts

While TheDart focuses on amature writing on actual topics with some based research.

Do you guys have any ideas how to advertise TheDart?

The main issue with these business models is they lack scalability. How can you grow and still maintain consistent quality of content?

    Thanks man :)

Okay so, from what I derived from other major article posting sites (e.g: huffington post) they focus their efforts on a linited number of topic categories (news being huffingtons main one) in regards to the dart; I want to create a setting in which all authors are free to post about anything they please; what this does is create a broad spectrum of opportunity to grow with our target market. As we expand and grow I believe we will be able to marginalize on the idea that we grow with our fan-base and write articles for the people of our site, instead of the general public.

Also! Does anyone know how i can make ads actually popup for the user so i manage to actually make profit from each visting user, since we've had over 2000 views (unique) and only made a dollar profit, since people actually have to click on these ads, does anyone have any ideas how i can set it up so i automatically make at least 0.10cents /view on the site?

Where did you get the 10c / view number? That seems really high..

there's no way it's 10c/view for sure.. however i don't think you can purposely pop up an ad into someones browser when getting on your site and get paid for it. i think ultimately the person has to click on it, and if you get caught any other way you can get in trouble. not entirely sure, though

also to advertise your site I would get started on a SEO portfolio

With ads on iOS we don't even get 10 cents per click (on average). :p I believe most automated advertising will be pay per click. Maybe I am wrong but thats how it is on iOS too.

in early stages it could be getting all the traffic from word to word advertising, 1000 unique views a day isnt bad, just give it time and it will increase slowly but surely

You should think up some sort of a good scalability option for the site by utilizing user submitted content.

Alot of replies, i really appriciate all the comments and help, thanks alot guys; and ah I understand, I didn't wana bombard my site with popups but i at least want to make back the hosting cost, that's why i was asking about the pay per view or if it was possible to pop it up, now about user-submitted content there will be an affilation with the site that allows people to do that (in the future). How would I go about making an SEO profile??
And yes, word of mouth is a big one; do you guys like the site and it's "design"? Any tips on regards to that ?

I would never make popups on my website, it is very annoying and a lot of the websites that have popups i try to stay away from them, just wait for the website to grow and other companies will contact you about advertising, youll earn a lot more money and wont have any pissed off users.

-Edit; I do like the design of your website looks modern and trendy, looks very professional in my opinion

If you want this project to be successful, you shouldn't be worrying about the short term revenue. You need to build your userbase by providing value to them. If you are trying to monetize it right from the get go, you're going to alienate your users and you'll halt your growth.

Stop worrying about the hosting costs for now, focus instead on providing something of value to people.

MOST websites make money simply off advertisements. If you generate enough traffic some company will like that and pay you to put their ads there. As for generating money any other way - that's on you to figure out to match with your site. It's hard, cause theres so many sites like it. Sell apparel?
