The case against the Xbox 360

I just made Unknown's head explode. The Xbox 360 fanboy now makes the case against the Xbox 360.
After reading my entire "the case against" series, one might conclude that the 7th generation of videogame consoles is a shining beacon of light, better illuminating a giant pile of shit, except that it's actually the pile of shit, and not the beacon of light.


Just like with the other consoles, there is an obvious point to address: The Red Ring of Death. Having experienced it myself, I know I've taken it lightly in the past.
All the Red Ring of Death means is a fatal hardware failure. In other words, if you see those red lights you'll have to ship your console back to Microsoft for repair, a process that takes an entire month. A month without any of your games, all because Microsoft had to release its money tree as fast as possible.
You better hope you're not part of the 1 out of 3 people who gets the Ring. Atleast it only happens to a minority, just like the Black Plague.

But that's not the only hardware problem, even if it is the worst. There are also the fans. Who knew fans could make less of a console?
The fans are so loud that they distract from the games. Unless there is a glass wall between me and my Xbox 360, it will always divert my attention from any CD-based game I'm playing just by the noise of its fans, with one chunk-blowing exception. To make matters worse, the cause of the Red Ring of Death is mainly overheating, so its fixed partly by kicking the fans into overdrive.

The last point to address is of course games. There are more good Xbox 360 exclusives than there are Wii or Playstation 3, but it isn't hard to compete with nothing, so that's not saying much. Grapes of Wrath is easier to read than Turn of the Screw; so what?
There's Bioshock, but that's not really an exclusive, it just happens to come with 1 less root kit than the PC version. So that can't be counted.
Crackdown on the other hand is most definitely exclusive... But Crackdown is really short, short enough to rent. Also, Crackdown was the first good Xbox 360 exclusive to come out, coming out 455 days after the Xbox 360. So those who bought their 360 on opening day had to wait over a year to get one, single, short game to hold them over for another 217 days preceding Halo 3.
But then there was Halo 3, and it only took 3 years to not test it (see Legendary achievement, floating items, the plastic sea, etc.) Halo 3 is by no means a bad game, but is by far the worst of the trilogy, despite the convenient Theater and gimmicky Forge. It's been two months and I'm already tired of it.
And lastly, we have Mass Effect, coming around just after the two months it took to get tired of the 360's last release. Mass Effect looks like it has a lot of replay value, but I have yet to play it, so I don't really know, and it might actually suck.

And that's all: Three games. And these are good games, not great ones: They just "pass". I should really want more.

One thing you forgot to add though was the ability to play Xbox games, and how badly it works. You know what I'm talking about.

 

This is why I will and always will stick with PC.

A load of the great games on Xbox are ported to PC anyway, making the xbox obsolete if you own enough good hardware for an average computer.

Are you saying that Xbox 360 is beter then PS3 and what about the game Gears of War, i thought that was meant to be allright.

 

Pssh, Gears of War ... Get Counter-Strike, loads more fun.

Haha, I don't actually own a 360, but my friend says that most of the Xbox games don't work on 360, and him and my cousin both had to send there 360's in for repair. But besides that, there are some good games.. Oblivion .. Gears of war;

Don't store your xbox360 in a glass box with insulation and a spaceheater in it and you shouldn't have any of those problems.

1/3? Not in my experience.. I know 10+ people who have owned one since christmas of the launch and none have had problems. Mostly online I hear stories.

It all boils down to opinion anyway. You could take any of the consoles as your personal favorite or "best".

The Wii has outsold them all and is the cheapest.
The PS3 has superior hardware.
The XBOX has the biggest and best online presence and the best games. It also has the most money behind it.

Same goes for games. Gears was voted the best game ever by G4, and I thought halo3 ruled. Halo glitching is fun, so i'm glad not everything is worked out. My friends in halo 2 used to mess around with rocket lunging and other similar things. I still play h2 and h3 online with friends from school. Mass effect is also amazing. I wasn't sure about it until I played it. I think you'll like it.

360 cod4 is just simply amazing. I was semi-pro/pro in h2. I don't really like 3 all that much. CoD4 is just amazing.

All you gotta know is PS3>Xbox360.
PS3 might not have as good graphics, but the gameplay on ps3 is awesome. I also have had a ps1 then ps2 from the beginning. So it doesn't feel right when I play a 360. Feels weird..

 

I wish the song Dead for Xbox360 was on PS2
