[Guide] How to avoid the RROD for your 360

This guide is going to tell you on how to avoid getting the RROD (Red Ring of Death) on your xbox 360. It will also help prevent disk scratching.

    Requirements -
    - $20 dollars

About the RROD (Red Ring of Death) -
The RROD is a flashing red light on your xbox that will occur due to over-heating of the xbox. Or, if you abuse your xbox this may happen as well.

To prevent this we'll need a fan or an intercooler. Buying one of these will not only keep your xbox safe from the RROD it will also save you loads of money from having to buy a new xbox 360.

    Step 1 -

Go to a local store and buy either a small fan or an intercooler for your xbox 360.

    Or

    Step 2 -

If you got a small fan, place behind your xbox and have the speed on low.

If you got the intercooler, plug it into the back of your xbox. This will not block any of the ports back there, so don't worry.

We have just solved the RROD problem, now I'm going to give you a little tip.

    Step 3 - Extras

The RROD may also cause disk scratching or melting due to the over-heating as well. So to prevent this, lay your xbox FLAT on the surface, not at an upward angle. This allow the xbox to flow more smoothly allowing more air to enter the xbox keeping it cooler.

Although, if you bought an intercooler or a fan it's okay to keep it stood up.

[Guide] How to avoid the RROD for your 360

So basically this guide is just saying you should buy an intercooler for your XBOX 360, right? Hmm, this is quite basic as pretty much every 360 owner knows what an intercooler is, but nontheless, great effort. 6/10.

Not a bad idea, but you won't lose money if you got RROD, unless you have moded your xbox.

many companies are picky about their warranties and will find any way around refunding you. for example, opening the case on most entertainment systems will remove the sticker with the warning. the intercooler to my knowledge doesnt do too well, heres some links

this guy actually changed the intercooler so that it doesnt suck power from the 360, smart idea

never put your 360 on carpet, it will absorb the heat. its better IMO to keep it horizontal, so that you dont knock it over. I dont plug it into extention cords, just heard it would be safer. that big ass box that your plug goes into (like a printer plug) shouldnt be on the floor either. also advise not to play the same game for over 4 hours at a time give te disk a break as they get hot =p

That's the WRONG Intercooler, you want the Nyko Intercooler EX. The EX has locking clips so it doesn't slip of your Xbox 360, it also has a locking mechanism so the power cord doesn't fall out, and the socket is made of metal so it won't melt.

The fan would probably just blow dust into the 360.

The RROD has nothing to do with disk scratching because it's a GPU problem, disks are scratched because you either knock the 360 whilst it's playing or you don't look after them.
