I'm back in town from school hanging with family. I just took my dog on a nice crisp walk. I'll be helping cook ... bout to make some sweet&golden mashed potatoes and cornbread. Shout out to the turkey that was slaughtered for our meal (turkeys aren't included in the humane slaughter act, by the way)!

Aside from watching the Thanksgiving Day Parade on television, or the football games in the afternoon, I usually enjoy the “Thanksgiving Dinner” (it is customarily called Thanksgiving “Dinner”, regardless of what time of day it is served). I usually have this traditional meal with friends and/or relatives. It ALWAYS involves turkey, dressing, potatoes (usually sweet potatoes or yams, in some cases with a mandatory addition of roasted marshmallows), one other vegetable, and an appropriate beverage. When I have the meal with relatives, I usually leave overfed because of the mandatory “seconds”. After navigating home, I often take nap (this year with my dachshund). Since I am retired, I then spend a little time chatting with out-of-town relatives on the phone, watching television
