The Month of Scams

Is anyone noticing the large increase of scamming lately? I know scamming on this site is a everyday thing, but most of the people scamming are supposedly semi trusted users. This goes along with the hackings and impostors. I'm not sure why so many users are getting hacked, but I believe most impostors are created by the user who's being impostor-ed. Not really going to go too deep into it, as it will most likely encourage others to attempt that.

No just bigger names are being hacked. Or if your referring to Pen because everyone knows who he is.

 

Yes I have, there has also been a lot of hacking going on recently.

 

This kind of wave always happens when people start finding more exploits in MSNs. It's just a fairly normal thing. Vulnerabilities will be exposed and abused of course.

There seems to be a large increase of well-trusted users 'cashing-in' on their reputation recently. Id know personally as i was a victim of such a person. Quite Pathetic Really.

 

Pretty weird, look at the dates of last year's demotion fest and now there's this almost exactly a year later, this week must be cursed for traders.

 

While i was temp banned, I saw ban reports for:

Pen - banned
Rohail - banned
Just un dude (didnt see report but he's banned)

and alot of people with 50+ vouches or $200+ donated being banned

 

Yep there are seriously alot of hacks, and it gets worse and worse for my feeling
I do wonder why people that get demoted and banned afterwards become mods again? For example N4n0.

Heck I didn't even know about him being banned or something, but why did he get the mod status back after a demotivation and ban?
Hackers / scammers should be banned hard, and forever.

Just un dude shouldn't be categorized with the other two. But yes. It just means that the community is going to have to be much more cautious when trading.

 

People wont try to hack somebody with a $5 donatir status, they need $200+ for it to be effective. Because to scam with that account, they need to be able to go second.

 

Honestly, i think this is because of the summer vacation. People (especially kids, who are the ones who scam the most) have too much time on their hands. It's like 4chan, when it becomes a lot dumber for the summertime because of the growing amount of newfags.

 

Hmm, not sure, it could be runescape is going to die soon, so the final wave of greed is among us.

 

It isn't just Sythe getting wrecked with hackers and whatnot. Runescape got hit massively this week too. I know this because I've seen a major increase in people that walk around the Grand Exchange confessing to botting or scamming and asking everyone to report them, or having abnormally large drops in items around banks before logging without saying a word. Anyone else notice this increase? It's almost like a massive hackfest went on last week and this week the hackers are finally coming down off their spree. Just hope it's not months and months more of this.

 

Not sure if it has any relevance, but I'm part of another gaming forum and there's been a massive amount of hacked accounts in game as well lately. Quite interesting

 

I'd pork the living daylights out of the Phelp sisters.

 

N4N0 (Ryan) has proved himself over and over to be a great asset to the community.
He came out on his own free will, nobody would have found out about his previous actions.
He refunded what was scammed and came clean.

Same goes for Wulf.

 

There have been more than a half-dozen old Sythe accounts recently that have been recovered/hacked and then used to scam. Many of these accounts have high donation status and/or thousands of posts, and look very trusted to most users. If you see any accounts like this that have not been active for a year or more and suddenly appear in the market one day, please report them to a moderator. I've banned 2 of such accounts based 100% on users reporting their suspicious activities in the market.

There are other problems occurring right now that are not public knowledge, and I think now is a better time than ever before to practice safe trading habits, use a MM/OMM, request a PM, and properly document all your trades. The majority of Sythe users are lazy and do not take all of these precautions (I am guilty of this myself), ESPECIALLY when trading with trusted users. But due to the recent rash of scammings, I would advise everybody to up their own personal security a little bit and be careful out there until this passes.

 

Yea TheSolo scammed me 540M about a week ago but self banned himself. Sad.
