Can I delay/Permanently stop facial hair growth?

    Thanks for all the feedback,

I am thinking about getting it waxed on Friday when I get a haircut. I believe someone mentioned it so I did some research and it will last me around 2 months.

Seems like the best solution at this point.

You're the exact opposite of me, I look better with stubble and love it (although hate when it gets too long and itchy). I do have bold patches under my chin where my beard won't grow and I'm wondering if there's something I can take to make it grow in those spots :p But I love to shave, don't know why, just hate how I look afterwards.

As for your question, I'm not entirely sure. There may be some sort of drug you can take to reduce hair growth, but I haven't heard of too many on the market.

My uncle has the same problem, he usually has to shave 2 times a day, and its still not a perfect shave. He went to see how much laser hair removal would be, and they told him that his hair is too thick, and that it would only last for 6 months and not forever like most laser hair removal does.

So maybe if you had the money for an expensive laser hair removal, that could be your solution, but dont forget to make an appointment every 5 months..

I've been thinking about that, don't know if I'm exactly of age yet. I'm pretty sure my health care will cover it though, My hair is not all that thick as of yet.

Because, facial hair does not look good on me atleast at this age..(still under 20). I hate it, and I do not want to have a wolfman face when I am 30, that seems like what will happen at this rate.

Also, if facial hair is still in the peach fuzz stage like my beard, is there anything I can do other than shaving that WON'T thicken it, perhaps trim it with those tiny scissors.

    Thanks!

Well nothing I've heard of, you know another option is to embrace it and grow out the most badass beard/mustache in school and be know as the "cool kid with the stache" :p

haha lol im just messin with you, but i heard that waxing/pulling the hairs with tweasers works out pretty well.

Head to a doctor, getting professional advice on something like this is probably the best thing to do. If you don't want to do it in person, call them up and ask, if not a doctor, I'm sure someone from a chemist would know something about remidifying it.

A Laser "therapy" can get rid of hair. however if you would decide to chose it there is only one thing i can recomend. Don't do it at a beauty salon that is does not have a supervising doctor there. Most of them have him on the list, but never in the office.

This treatment however isn't 100% effective and has a sidefect. Chances are that after about 2 years hairs will start growing again. The side effect is hyper-pigmentation (darkening of skin in the area treated) however its a small chance. about 26 in 100,000.

Also never do your eyebrows, because one shot of the laser in the eye will get you blind. And axidents happen...

There's no solution to this that any professional will ever perform at your age. Hair growth continues to develop and fill in until you're around 25. Looking into laser removal would be a huge waste of time at this stage. Honestly, most adults have to shave daily if they want to stay smooth. You're not unusual in that regard by any means. Buy a manual razor (not electric), learn how to not slice yourself open, and you'll be able to do a full shave in under a minute. It's really not that inconveniencing.

Edit: In regards to being afraid to thicken your hair, that is a complete myth. Nature thickens facial hair, not shaving it. It only appears that way because naturally, as you get older, your hair will get thicker. Whether you keep your face covered in fuzz or maintain a clean shave, it won't make the slightest difference.

If it's the shaving part that you really don't like you can always use those hair removal lotions instead?

Shaving sucks for the first couple years. But really, eventualy it becomes just another part of your schedule. Like brushing your teeth

I'm pretty sure there's a lot of people that have excessive hair growth. (I'm one of them)

I've had to shave since I was in like 4th grade. (Had a mustache), as my friend had a beard in 4th/5th grade. I'm not quite sure how to stop it, but I'm not really wondering anymore, even though I have to shave every other day, so I sometimes just keep it, even though it looks horrid.

I'm in the military and I can tell you from personal experience, shaving constantly really isn't that big of a deal. Your skin adjusts to it. I actually don't even used shaving cream anymore. Just hot water (to the point where you can just barely stand it) and a razor. No irritation at all.

I've heard of women getting laser hair removal for their armpits/legs, but I'm not sure if it would work on a guy's face =| ...
